STILFONTEIN- A 55 year-old man found murdered at old Harties in Extension 10 in Stilfontein. Police said a man had a stabbing wound to his head.

North West police said: “The incident took place on Monday. The lifeless body of Phillip Ntimbane was discovered by one of community members and called the police. No one has been arrested and police investigations continue,” provincial police spokesperson, Captain Paul Ramaloko.

Seven nabbed for assault and kidnapping in Schweizer Reneke

SEVEN suspects were arrested for kidnapping and GBH assault in Schweizer Reneke on Tuesday.

The suspects aged between 22 and 32 will appear before court soon.

North West police spokesperson, Captain Paul Ramaloko said the incident took place on Saturday.

“Two women were allegedly walking in the streets when came across a man. He allegedly threatened them with a knife. He also tried to undress one of the girls.

“The man grabbed one of the girls and tried to rape her. He ran away after he was distracted. The girl who allegedly belonged to one of the accused informed her boyfriend about the incident. The suspect recruited his other friends and searched for the man,” Ramaloko said.

According to Ramaloko, the suspects allegedly assaulted and kidnapped him.

“The man was allegedly assaulted by a mob. The suspects were subsequently arrested after police investigations. The victim was taken to local hospital for medical attention. The suspects will appear before Schweizer Reneke Magistrate’s Court soon,” he said.

Moses Mabhida stadium to host 2015 Telkom Knock-out Cup

Moses Mabhida Stadium has hosted almost 50 percent of the 17 domestic cup finals that have been awarded since the 2010 World Cup.

After the Durban venue was announced as the ground to stage the 2015 Telkom Knockout Finalbetween Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs on December 16, it takes its tally to eight finals in the past five-and-a-half PSL seasons.

Orlando Stadium is the venue with the next highest number of finals staged with three, while FNB Stadium, Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium and Mbombela Stadium have each hosted two.

Of the six stadiums that were built from scratch for the 2010 World Cup, only Cape Town Stadium and Peter Mokaba Stadium have not yet been awarded a tournament finale.

Coach Clinton Larsen explains Bloemfontein Celtic resignation

Clinton Larsen says he resigned as head coach of Bloemfontein Celtic after the club gave him an ultimatum to change his assistant coach or walk.

Larsen stepped down as Phunya Sele Sele boss this morning, with Lehlohonolo Seema and Dunchan Lechesa taking over the reins in a caretaker capacity.

“There are two things that led to my resignation,” Larsen tells KickOff.com. “The first one was results. We started very well so we did not win any of our last six matches and the club was concerned about poor results. So I was given an ultimatum to change an assistant coach or resign and I chose to resign.

It was his last speech as rector of the Potchefstroom Campus at a NWU Puksport year-end function. It’s his birthday, he was 49 years old and the last few years double show. Prof.Herman van Schalkwyk greeting and NWU Puksport and that a list of achievements they greet him?

The outstanding decathlon athlete, Willem Coetzer, as Sportsman of the Year by the hockey star, Celia Evans, and the ever popular Semenya who both won titles as Sportswoman of the Year. Javelin thrower Leon Laubser and high jumper Julia du Plessis respectively Junior sportsman and woman of 2015.

Spanish Football La Liga President To Visit SA

The president for La Liga, Javier Tebas will visit South Africa. The South African Football Association (SAFA) said Tebas will visit the Nelson Mandela Foundation in Houghton on Tuesday.

“This will be part of his visit to the country following the opening of a La Liga Africa Office in Johannesburg on Monday. Tebas will be accompanied by several local top football delegates including SAFA president Dr Danny Jordaan,” SAFA spokesperson, Dominic Chimhavi said.
Chimhavi said Teba is expected to spell out a number of exciting initiatives that will be benefit both Spain and South Africa.

Taung man gets 20 years for rape and house breaking

A 35-year-old man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for housebreaking and three counts of rape. Thakadu Keoagile from Dryharts village was arrested after raping a 23-year-old victim on February 2014 in Dryharts Village, in Taung.

North West police spokesperson, Sergeant Kelebogile Moleko said the suspect gained entry through the window. “He suffocated the victim with a pillow and raped her. The accused was currently on correctional supervision after being found guilty of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm in Schweizer Reneke. He was sentenced to five years imprisonment back in 2010. Keoagile was further declared unfit to possess a firearm,” Moleko.

Toddler killed in Potch hit-and-run

Police spokesperson Sergeant Kelebogile Moleko said the boy was crossing the road on Wednesday night shortly before eight ‘o clock when the car struck him. The car, a green Toyota Corolla, did not stop after the accident.

According to police they have a partial number plate from an eyewitness.

“Allegations further states that the registration numbers are incomplete as the incident happened at night. The minor sustained injuries on the left and right ankle, head, back of the body and stomach. He was transported to Potchefstroom Hospital and later died. The suspect is still at large.”

Police have appealed to the Ikageng community to come forward with any information that may assist in finding the owner or driver of the car.

“Ikageng police can be contacted on 018 295 173. A case of Culpable Homicide is been investigated,” she said.

Sanco NW welcomes Bozwana arrests

The South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco) in the North West on Thursday welcomed the arrest of two people in connection with the assassination of prominent businessman, Wandile Bozwana.

“The breakthrough by the investigating team should bring much relief to our communities and end weeks of speculation as to who was the mastermind behind the horrendous assassination” said provincial chairperson Paul Sebegoe.

“Our communities would be much safer with heartless criminals that carried out the ghastly act in broad daylight removed from our streets and neighbourhoods,” he said.

Gauteng police said two people linked to the murder of Bozwana were arrested at an undisclosed location in Johannesburg on Wednesday. They were expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said more arrests were expected.

Six nabbed in foiled diamond heist

Six people were arrested and two AK47 rifles and a handgun recovered after a foiled diamond heist in Schweizer-Reneke, North West police said on Thursday.

Police spokesperson Captain Paul Ramaloko said six armed men attacked a farmer after he left his farm in Migdol on Wednesday.

“The suspects knocked the farmer’s bakkie with two of their vehicles pushing him out of the road in a heavy rain. All three vehicles were damaged, but the suspects jumped out of their vehicles and robbed the farmer of 10 boxes of unpolished precious stones, diamonds, valued at millions. The six then abandoned their damaged vehicles and hijacked a passer-by who was driving in a bakkie.”

He said the hijacked victim managed to summon local police and farmers in the area.
