13 October 2026 – The Motor Industry Staff Association (MISA) has wished the Class of 2026 well as learners prepare to write their National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations, marking the culmination of 12 years of schooling. The October–November 2026 examinations are scheduled to begin on 13 October with Computer Applications Technology (CAT) Paper 1 Practical and conclude on 26 November 2026.
More than 856,000 learners have enrolled for this year’s examinations.
MISA spokesperson Phakamile Hlubi-Majola said the examinations represented an important milestone for learners and an opportunity to take the next step towards their future careers and further education.
“For many matriculants, these examinations represent the completion of 12 years of schooling and months of dedicated preparation.
“Their results will also play an important role in shaping their next steps, particularly for learners who plan to pursue further studies at universities, colleges and other tertiary institutions,” she said.
Hlubi-Majola further said the examinations have received the green light from Umalusi, the quality assurance council responsible for general and further education and training, following an assessment of the readiness of the examination system and preparations by the Department of Basic Education and provincial education departments. She added that Umalusi’s approval confirmed that the necessary measures were in place to support credible, fair and secure examinations.
“The association also highlights its commitment to supporting the educational aspirations of members’ children through financial assistance programmes.
“The MISA Bursary provides R12,500 towards the tertiary studies of qualifying children of members, while its School Support programme offers financial assistance to eligible learners from Grade 1 to Grade 12,” said Hlubi-Majola.
According to her, these initiatives are aimed at ensuring that financial difficulties do not prevent members’ children from completing their education and reaching their full potential. Hlubi-Majola said the association recognised that educational support was important in helping young people access opportunities and build a better future.
“As learners prepare for the examinations, MISA has encouraged them to remain focused, use their remaining study time effectively and approach each paper with confidence.
“Learners have also been urged to comply with examination rules and instructions to ensure a smooth and credible examination process,” she said.
Hlubi-Majola said MISA wishes the Class of 2026 every success in their final examinations. She said may their hard work and dedication pave the way for a bright and successful future.
