2 August 2026 – Two men aged 40 and 41 were arrested for dealing in drugs. This comes after the police received a tip-off regarding suspected drug trafficking.

The Northern Cape police spokesperson, Colonel Cherelle Ehlers said during the execution of Operation Shanela 2 on 1 August 2026, members from Philipstown SAPS immediately operationalised a tip-off they received regarding suspected drug trafficking. Ehlers said at approximately 5:25pm, the identified silver Opel Corsa was stopped and searched.

“Dagga weighing over 7kg with an estimated value of R72 000 was found and confiscated. Furthermore, the vehicle believed to have been used in the commission of the crime was confiscated. The pair will appear in court in due course for dealing in drugs,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Pixley Ka Seme District Police Commissioner, Major General Nomana Mtukushe, commended the police for their swift response and halting the trade of drugs in the area.
