8 October 2026 – The South African Police Service (SAPS) Crime Intelligence at National Head Office, together with the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), has uncovered a suspected multi-million-rand drug manufacturing laboratory at a farm in Krugersdorp, Gauteng.
The national police spokesperson, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said the police have discovered quantities of Mandrax and ecstasy tablets at the suspected drug manufacturing facility. Mathe said five South African nationals who were found on the premises have been arrested.
“The police officers are travelling to the scene, where further assessments and investigations are underway. The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to disrupt illicit drug manufacturing and bring those involved to justice,” she said.
