^{12 October 2026 – The South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed that Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya is no longer an employee of the organisation, with effect from 12 October 2026. According to SAPS said Sibiya’s departure follows his resignation during a disciplinary hearing that commenced on Monday morning.}

^{The national police spokesperson, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said Sibiya’s legal representative tendered his resignation immediately after the disciplinary proceedings began.}

^{“As the former senior officer had an ongoing disciplinary case against him at the time of his resignation, his departure from the service is therefore regarded as a dishonourable discharge.}

^{“The service further confirmed that Sibiya’s employment had been terminated with immediate effect,” she said.}
