As the cost of living continues to soar and unemployment also show its ugly head across the country, atleast a bus company, Phumatra is to rescue many South Africans who travel around the country to various destinations.

Phumatra company is based in Pampierstad and provides transportation to most of Taung and Pampierstad people.

The stress and complains experienced by people in the area are now history because the company now brought  six new buses to be allocated in needy areas.

Rural areas are usually locations having a lower level of accumulation and less concentration of economic activities and are no complex spatial structures that are supported by transport systems.

However Phumatra depot manager in Pampierstad, Thabo Hlahla(36) is upbeat that challenges experienced by commuters in Taung and its surrounding areas will be a thing of the past.

Hlala said this during the unveiling of six new buses that were brought in to ease the pain.

“We are very grateful after acquiring six new buses to solve transportation challenges we experienced here. We bought six brand new buses to help the community of Taung and its surrounding areas.

“Even though some of the roads around here are not accessible, we trying our level best to make sure commuters reach their destinations comfortable so,” he said.

Hlahla said they trying to fight demurral faced by communities.

“We have also refurbished four buses and we believe our contribution as an organisation will change the lives of the people here. We also create job opportunities for the people of Taung because we hired cleaners and drivers” Hlahla outlines.

He also explains challenges they came across as the transportation company.

The smaller the area, the lesser its complexity and the potential for disruptions, particularly when this complexity is not effectively managed. The most important transport problems are often related to rural areas and take place when transport systems, for a variety of reasons, cannot satisfy the numerous requirements of rural mobility.

A commuter from Pampierstad, Kelebogile Mathe(48) said she is very grateful because taxis fare are very high and using buses is very cost-effective.

“We appreciate the co-operation and service rendered by Phumatra. Taxi fare is too much for us because most of us here are unemployed. We living not in conducive environment where almost everything is far from us and we are forced to travel around. So the buses are our soul-savers” she said.
