10 October 2026 – The Kraaipan Museum is a local history museum located in New Kraaipan / Mahukubung within the Ratlou Local Municipality in the Ngaka Modiri Molema District of the North West Province, South Africa. The museum opens from Monday to Sunday at 7am until 5pm.

Primarily commemorates the historical events surrounding the area, notably the Battle of Kraaipan—where the first shots of the Second Anglo-Boer War were fired on 12 October 1899 with the derailment of a British armored train. The museum features local heritage displays and maps, though critics and visitors note that its exhibits focus heavily on Anglo-Boer War military history rather than the pre-colonial history of the local Barolong boo Ratlou and Batswana communities who inhabited the region.
