30 July 2026- The North West Gambling Board will destroy 141 illegal gambling machines in Mahikeng on 30 July 2026. The acting CEO, Boitumelo Qalinge said the destruction of these machines forms part of the Board’s ongoing commitment to combat illegal gambling activities and protect the integrity of the regulated gambling industry in the North West.

Qalinge said the 141 illegal gambling machines were confiscated during compliance inspections conducted across all four districts. He further said working in collaboration with various law enforcement agencies, the Board carried out these operations in fulfilment of its legislative mandate to eradicate illegal gambling and ensure compliance with the North West Gambling Regulatory Framework.

“Illegal gambling operations undermine the provincial economy, expose communities to unregulated gambling activities, deprive the state of legitimate revenue and threaten the sustainability of licensed gambling operators who comply with the law.

“The North West Gambling Board remains committed to strengthening partnerships with law enforcement agencies and other key stakeholders to intensify compliance inspections, confiscate illegal gambling equipment and promote a safe, fair and regulated gambling environment,” said Qalinge.

He added that, the destruction of the confiscated machines will take place at Total Recycle Scrapyard – 11 Aerodrome Cres, Mahikeng Industrial Site, Mahikeng at 9am.
