OSCAR EXTORTION SCAM: CASE AGAINST LIMPOPO MAN POSTPONED

wp-1457030395484.jpg

The man is accused of trying to scam convicted murderer Oscar Pistorius out of a R250,000.

JOHANNESBURG – The extortion case against a Limpopo man accused of trying to scam convicted murderer Oscar Pistorius out of a R250,000 has been postponed until Thursday for a bail application.

The accused appeared briefly in the Specialised Commercial Crime Court in Pretoria today following his arrest on Friday.

Pistorius returns to court next month to be sentenced as a murderer, after his appeal to the Constitutional Court was rejected earlier this month.

The former athlete shot and killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day three years ago.

The State alleges that the accused called Pistorius and told him he worked for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and was part of prosecutor Gerrie Nel’s team.

He allegedly offered to make Pistorius murder conviction “go away”.

It’s understood that Pistorius played along and tipped off the Hawks, who then set up a sting operation, which led to the man’s arrest on Friday.

The accused was allegedly paid R40,000 before he was arrested.

The matter has been postponed until Thursday.

Maphoitsile pupil banned from school for being lesbian

Facebook: Bogosing Secondary school pupil, Zinzi Molema

BY REGINALD KANYANE

NORTH West education and sport development department has intervened after an 18 year-old girl was prohibited from entering school yard at Bogosing Secondary School in Maphoitsile village near Taung for being lesbian.

Zinzi Manini Molema who confessed that she is a lesbian said she was banned from school by the principal.

“The principal sent me packing after I came to school wearing a trouser which was part of uniform. He said I must go back home and wear a skirt since I was a girl. I told him that I cannot wear a skirt because I’ve never worn any in my life. I had to stay home for three weeks without attending any classes.

“I stay with my grandmother and she is sick, so I had to ask our neighbour, Reynett Gaanabo to intervene. He tried to explain my situation to the principal, but his attempts were futile. I believe it is unfair for any educator to force a pupil to wear anything that they not feeling comfortable in,” Molema said.

Reynett Gaanabo, 42 said they knew Zinzi as lesbian within the community. He said everyone have accepted her for who she is. He said it was uncalled for the school to make her suffers because of dress code.

“She was wearing a school uniform, despite whether is a trouser or a skirt. How could they deny her time to attend classes just because she is lesbian? We want to put it out clear that we cannot allow our kids to be harassed because of their beliefs,” he said.

North West education and sport development spokesperson, Elias Malindi said: “As department we have ordered the principal to take back the pupil. We also informed the principal to make some exceptional towards the learner. The school will also make sure they organise recovery plan for her to cover the syllabus. The SGB and the principal will convene a meet with the learner’s parents or guardian in quest to reach an amicably long term solution towards the matter.”

South African Civic Organisation (SANCO) regional secretary in Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati, Mika Moeti condemned the decision taken by the principal. He said the pupil cannot be denied education simply because of her dress code.

“As the community, we need to be tolerant towards each other. We cannot afford to discriminate each other because of our dress code, gender and beliefs. We want to applaud the MEC of education and sport development, Wendy Matsemela for intervention. The freedom charter said education is a constitutional right for any kid. So denying the girl education because of her dress code and for being lesbian is uncalled for,” Moeti said.

Ndlovu ruled out of Bafana Bafana qualifier vs Cameroon

image

BY REGINALD KANYANE
Cyprus-based striker Dino Ndlovu has been withdrawn from the Bafana Bafana squad to face Cameroon in back-to-back 2017 Gabon Orange Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers due to an injury.

Ndlovu injured his left knee in his club’s match over the weekend and was assessed by the Bafana Bafana team medico, Thulani Ngwenya on Monday when they arrived for camp.

He was subsequently ruled out of the upcoming clashes.

“It is always a blow when we lose a player that we have called up into the national team, but having said that we have to forge ahead.

“We would have loved to have him with us, but it is just unfortunate, injuries are part of the game. We can only wish him a speedy recovery. We are still working on the replacement as we definitely need someone in that position because goals are of paramount importance in the two matches,” said Bafana Bafana head coach Ephraim Shakes Mashaba.

Other injury concerns in the squad are of Belgium-based midfielder Andile Jali who has dislocated his shoulder; France-based defender Anele Ngcongca is nursing an abdominal muscle strain, while Orlando Pirates defender Thabo Matlaba has injured his toe.

“Fortunately the injuries to the trio are manageble so we will be able to deal with them during our camp. I am confident by the time we play our match they will be ready,” said Dr Ngwenya.

Other than Ndlovu, all the players were expected in camp by tonight (Monday, 21 March) except for the Mamelodi Sundowns players – Hlompho Kekana, Asavela Mbekile and Themba Zwane – who were out of the country on CAF duties.

They are expected to report for national team duty only on Tuesday (22 March).

“Late coming has always been in the national team long before my time and this is due to the fact that we have players at different clubs, from different countries with different programmes.

“Yes it does affect the training programme of the national team but we have to do the best we can. All we can only only hope for is that they don’t arrive injured,” said Mashaba.

The South Africans will have their first training session on Monday at the UJ Stadium, Soweto Campus.

Meanwhile Bafana Bafana will now fly out to Doula, Cameroon on Thursday, 24 March instead of a day before as initally planned.

Bafana Bafana and the Indomitable Lions face off on Saturday, 26 March 2016 at Stade Omnisport de Limbe in Limbe, Cameroon.

Kick-off for that clash is at 15h30 local time (16h30 South African time).

The return leg will be played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on March 29 2016.

Kickoff is at 19h00.

Senzo’s family turns to Public Protector

image

Slain soccer star Senzo Meyiwa’s family members have turned to the Public Protector for help after the cops’ failure to solve the case 17 months after his murder in October 2014.

Members of Meyiwa’s family, who asked not to be named, said they approached Thuli Madonsela’s office out of frustration at the lack of progress in the police murder investigation.

On Friday, Public Protector spokesperson Oupa Segalwe confirmed that they had received a complaint from the family last week.

“They allege undue delays and lack of progress in the investigations handled by police officers in Vosloorus. We have not taken up the matter yet. Jurisdiction assessment processes are still under way,” Segalwe said.

Last Sunday, the Hawks and a team of forensic experts visited Meyiwa’s then girlfriend, singer Kelly Khumalo’s home in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, where he was fatally shot, to reconstruct the scene of the crime and reinterview key witnesses.

The seven witnesses who were in the house on the night Meyiwa was killed – including Khumalo, her mother Ntombi, her sister Zandi, Chicco Twala’s son Longwe, and Meyiwa’s childhood friends Tumelo Madlala and Mthokozisi Twala – were present for the reconstruction. They shied away from the cameras and police officers warned media at the scene not to take pictures while they were busy.

Asked for comment, Meyiwa’s father, Samuel, said: “When we heard that the Hawks revisited the scene where my son was killed, my family danced and celebrated. Sinalo ithemba (We have hope).”

He said it was sad that the Meyiwas were the only ones having sleepless nights and who were desperate to find truth, and lashed out at Khumalo. “Kelly is a demon. She must bring back my son’s clothes and all his trophies,” he fumed.

Khumalo was unavailable for comment.

Meanwhile, Meyiwa’s friend Madlala has asked to meet the Meyiwa family today. It will be the first time he has met them since Meyiwa’s death. Asked to elaborate, Madlala said: “I am unable to comment at this stage because the case is still under investigation. I will talk when the time is right.”

KENNY: JUJU IS A ‘DOG’

image

SHE’S HIS FAVOURITE BITCH!

The Sushi King’s black Rottweiler became an instant celebrity on Friday.

That’s when the controversial businessman posted a photo of “Juju”, the dog, on social media.

Kenny named his dog Juju – after the EFF Commander-in-Chief, Julius Malema.

And he did so in retaliation, after the political Juju released a song titled #ZuptaMustFall on Thursday .  The song was released on YouTube, and uses the EFF’s protest chant in Parliament during the State of the Nation Address earlier this year.

Malema invented the name “Zupta”. EFF sources claimed the song aims to raise awareness and mobilise all people to speak in one voice in the demand that #ZuptaMustFall.

But Kenny fought back with his beloved bitch. He shocked Instagram followers with pictures of her.

The message read: My Dog Juju has grown so much, even the belly is so big. She’s so loyal to her master who feeds her. One thing about Juju is she knows when to bark at potential intruders and when to impress me and the boys . . . unlike some humans . . .

Shortly thereafter, some applauded Kenny for indirectly labelling Julius a dog.

Speaking to the SunTeam on Friday, Kenny expressed his love for his dog.

“I’ve had that dog since it was young and the name Juju is a nice name for a dog. The part about the big belly is for Julius! Remember how in 2013 he had a tiny belly compared to now. Now he’s got a big belly,” he said.

Kenny added: “If we compare Juju the human and Juju the dog, they’re both loyal. The dog is loyal to me and the human is loyal to his masters in England.”

He continued: “Malema has characteristics of a dog. He barks everywhere, in Parliament he’s always barking. In Polokwane he barks in taverns.

“He wasn’t in Parliament on Thursday, so his masters in England told him to do something, so now he’s done a song just to make noise.”

Julius Malema was not available for comment. He had not responded to messages and SMSes sent to him by the SunTeam at the time of going to print.
