Department of Education officials face suspensions

Durban – At least 10 KwaZulu-Natal education officials are facing “imminent” suspension related to corruption in the department’s school nutrition programme.

Provincial education department head Nkosinathi Sishi made the announcement in Durban.

This followed the suspension of two department officials in June.

Some 2.2 million pupils in KwaZulu-Natal benefit from the national school nutrition programme, which costs the province R1.2bn a year.

There are times when one wonders if one can get more than enough success, and if one looks at Lepora, one could say “probably” his FORTUNE  is causing major waves around the province, likely due to the fact that this is a more raw side to Lepora. In 2012 alone,he is planning to make it bigger and better!!!!

Intro
Have you ever dreamt or felt like hearing
a combination of Tuks senganga, Mo‟
Molemi and HHP in a song? I am talking
about a young matured version of those
motswako heavyweights combined with a
bit of “gangster” mind feel on it… Oh by
the way, by “gangster” I mean “smart”, as
Succezz Lepora terms it. That is
something new isn‟t? Well to Succezz
Lepora this is not new; it has been there
since he started to consider himself a
Motswako Arti

Succezz Lepora.jpg

Early life
Born Katlego Emmanuel Nchoe in Goloko,
Ganalaagte, the Bundus of Delareyville, or
Lichtenburg „„Nna ga ke itse gore Goloko e
wela kae, I just know gore e ko Tswaing
municipality‟‟. There weren‟t role models when
Succezz was growing up, but he didn‟t let that
stop him from achieving his goals. He was
especially interested in Music, Soccer and
Karate. Unluckily, his parents never
encouraged nor discouraged those interests.
As a matter of fact, Succezz Lepora has
numerous times said… He thinks his parents
never had interest in him. That drove him to be
the loner type of a child, singing to keep him or
his mind occupied, „eh Joe I found comfort in
singing or rapping…

Schooling
He graduated from Charora high school in
Chaneng, Rustenburg at 18! Then he earned
his degree in Corporate Communications at
University of Johannesburg (RAU). No
obstacle was too great for Succezz Lepora to overcome! His accomplishments did
not end there. In 2007, he auditioned and went to the SABC‟s variety music show
Jam Alley, where he overpowered his competitors, but he did not realise his dream
of being interviewed by V-Mash as she was no longer there.

Music
In 2010, however,
Lepora realized his
dream: he went to Jam
Alley for a special 2010
World Cup show where
he was eventually
interviewed by V-Mash.
Just few months later
Succezz Lepora was
performing at Dj
Lemonka‟s chillas
sessions in Itsoseng,
where heavyweights like
HHP nodded to him with
approval, “Jabba
actually took his hat off for my performance (literally)” Succezz was later on invited to
Motsweding Fm by Lesego Lekgetho, during that time he was busy with Kay E of
„bona re etsang fame‟ and Oz “of ngifuni imali yam‟‟ fame, doing a 2010 World cup
theme song, which earned them airplay and interviews on several radio stations.

Tsela Kgopo Mixtape Album
This is the most anticipated motswako mixtape after Dj Lemonka‟s second volume of
his award winning
motswakotape, which Succezz
Lepora recorded a track for, but
unfortunately it did not meet
Lemonka‟s standard. This
project named Tsela
kgopo…meaning “A short Rough
Road” was inspired by his
endeavours in life…the Mixtape
includes story telling songs like
“they say‟‟ where he speaks
about what he has been through,
with people always
talking…positively and
negatively, he has also done a
tribute to women…specifically single parenting women as he was raised by a single
mother himself…coming from an unknown village in the North West, being the first
one at that village to be on TV, to get a degree, to be on Radio, and to pass Matric
with distinctions…!!! Ga te Leina lebe ke seromo…‟Ina entle lona ke Letlhogonolo!! A
self-fulfilling prophecy ka puo ya se-eng.

The task team established to investigate the recent spate of unrests and blockading of roads happening under cover of darkness in Mahikeng Local Municipality is expected to conclude its probe and report on its findings.

This announcement was made by North West Premier Mme Thandi Modise at a media briefing held earlier in the week.

The task team led jointly by the MEC for Local Government and Traditional Affairs, China Dodovu and MEC for Human Settlement, Public Safety and Liaison, Nono Maloyi was established by Premier Modise two weeks ago.

Modise told journalists that the provincial government has developed implementable plans for the municipality to overcome its political and administrative challenges.

“The clash of wills and factional behaviors are attempts to frustrate government efforts to render quality service to ordinary citizens,” the Premier emphasized.

Modise and Deputy Minister for Performance Monitoring and Evaluation in the Presidency, Obed Bapela agreed that the financial model of Mahikeng needs to be remodeled.

Though the municipality services 122 villages, in addition to Mahikeng town and Mmabatho Township, it only has only 7000 households on its billing system and depends on refuse removal as its only source of income. Water, electricity and are paid to Botshelo Water Board, Eskom while drivers licensing and registration fees revenue is paid to the provincial government.

Commitments to follow up on non- payment of rates and taxes by provincial government and national departments were given by both the Premier and the Deputy Minister who also urged households to also pay for their services as the municipality’s desperate financial situation is compounded by non-payment of services by most households on its billing system.

Sixty-one- year old Reverend Elias Maretlwa and his 23-year-old daughter Leki’s deaths would have been discovered earlier had their neighbours been concerned and enquired about their whereabouts, North West MEC for Human Settlements, Public Safety & Liaison, Nono Maloyi asserted at the reburial service for the two held in Tlhabologang Sports Ground outside Coligny on Saturday.

In calling for communities to reclaim the spirit of Ubuntu and establish street committees to work with Community Policing Forums as organs of people’s power at the emotional service, MEC Maloyi as a representative of the Premier and the Provincial government also called on the church to lead the moral regeneration to defeat wickedness which he described as Satanism.

“We share your grief and sorrow because no one deserves such painful deaths. Satan has declared war on the people of South Africa, North West Province and Coligny and its’ high time that the church woke up to this reality. Satanism is the only wicked force that leads wives to kill their husbands and children and for men to rape their own children.

Many are misled by people who call themselves traditional healers to perform such rituals the guise that they will either get rich or be cured of diseases. Such rituals are wrong and should be condemned,” the MEC emphasised in a harsh condemnation

Maloyi ,the Mayor of Ditsobotla Local Municipality,Lesego Holele and Rev Modise Mogorosi who delivered the sermon called for repentance and reconciliation and urged the community to leave the matter up to the courts for justice to be served.

“Though we are saying enough is enough, we condemn unequivocally vigilantism and call on our communities to work closer with our police to ensure that incidents of this nature do not occur. Committing crime in response to a crime is inexcusable,” stressed Maloyi.

He reiterated Premier Mme Thandi Modise’ call  for families who are unable to bury their loved ones to approach their local municipalities and or social workers for assistance instead of opting for unlawful burials that might call to question their motives.

“If we had not been persistent to a point of irritating our sister in-law, the remains of our brother would still be buried in his house and his disappearance would still be a mystery,” Solucia Maretlwa, younger sister to the late priest in commenting police for their efforts and meticulous investigation which led to their gruesome discovery.

Moiloa Maretlwa on behalf of the Maretlwa and Moepeng families expressed appreciation to the Office of the Premier in meeting the costs of the reburial.

“The compassion and care of our government comforted us to the extend that we are today burying our loved ones with dignity, “he said at the service attended by close to 400 mourners.

The Executive Mayor of Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality, Phaedi Saku, Speaker of Ditsobotla Local Municipality Councillor Sigcau Mnyakama, Priests affiliated to the Coligny Apostolic Ministry Association, from the National Independent Congregation Church (NICC) and other local churches, Officials from Office of the Premier and South African Police Service, were among those who attended the reburial service.

Reverend Maretla’s badly decomposed body and a skeleton believed to be that of his daughter were discovered by police buried in a shallow grave in the bedroom of their house two weeks ago.

Family members have accused the pastor’s wife, Bertha Maretlwa now in police custody pending trial for being responsible for the pair’s deaths.

The NICC Priest was reported missing in December, while his daughter had been reported missing in 2009.

According to the family the priest’s wife allegedly told them that her husband and daughter where in Botswana to train as traditional healers.

The pair was supposed to return on June 16, when the family, church members and friends were to throw a big welcome ceremony.

The wife allegedly succumbed to pressure and revealed the whereabouts of their bodies after family members questioned her when the pair failed to appear on the said date. She reportedly confessed that she had buried them inside the house often used for church services as she was poor and could not afford funerals.

The couple had six children, one of whom was buried in 2009 and the other is in police custody with her mother.

The increased use of electrical appliances during winter significantly enhances the risk of an electrical fire occurring in South African residential homes.

As a result, homeowners must ensure all electrical appliances, usage and supply comply with safety standards and that all insurance policies are up-to-date to cover possible financial losses before the colder months begin.

Besides the enormous personal safety risks that these fires present, homeowners could face the possibility of having their insurance claim repudiated if electrical connectivity is found to be non-compliant with regulations in the event of a claim.

Compliance with regulations governing electrical installations not only mitigates the chances of an insurance claim being rejected in the event of an electrical fire, but also ensures all electrical appliances are safe for the occupants of the home to use.

Some tips: mitigate the threat of electrical fires in the home:

1. Never use water to put out an electrical fire as water conducts electricity and can cause the fire to get larger. Rather use a CO2 fire extinguisher, every house should have one.
2. Always use a registered electrical contractor to work on electrical installations.
3. Avoid using several high-amperage appliances (such as irons or heat-producing appliances) on the same circuit.
4. Dimmed lights, reduced output from heaters, and poor television pictures can be symptoms of an overloaded circuit.
5. Avoid plugging two appliances in the same outlet or circuit if together they exceed 1000W. Examples of such appliances include: refrigerators, air conditioners, hot plates, irons, microwave ovens, dishwashers etc.
6. Clean the tumble dryer thoroughly as a blocked or dirty lint filter can catch fire or set fire to clothes inside the drum.
7. Be cautious when drilling holes or driving nails into walls, hitting or damaging electrical wires can cause a fire hazard.
8. When using an extension cord, be sure the extension cord’s capacity matches or exceeds the appliance or device plugged into it. Feel the extension cord while it’s in use; if it is warm or hot, replace it with a cord of greater capacity. It is also a good idea to unreel the cord completely during its use.
9. Do not use extension cords that are frayed or cracked or coiled up and never run extension cords under rugs or carpets.
10. Install light bulbs with wattages that are equal to or below any fixture’s maximum wattage.
11. Dispose of or repair appliances or devices that blow fuses or trip circuit breakers.
12. Never leave a pan cooking on an electric stove unattended
