Reasons to love eggs

Washington – My love for eggs has never wavered. Not only because they taste so good and can be prepared in myriad ways, but also because of their protein.

Protein makes up about 20 percent of a healthy body, including everything that has structure such as our hair and skin, the enzymes that enable essential chemical reactions in the body, and the neurotransmitters that transfer information in our brain. Protein also provides about 10 percent of the body’s energy.

Suspend Malema and co without pay: committee

Parliament – Parliament’s powers and privileges committee on Friday recommended suspension without pay for most of the Economic Freedom Fighters MPs found guilty on contempt of Parliament.

EFF leader Julius Malema, chief whip Floyd Shivambu, Mpho Ramakatsa, Khanyisile Litchfield-Tshabalala, Godrich Gardee, and Mbuyiseni Ndlozi were set to receive the harshest sanctions.

“The committee resolved that they be suspended without remuneration for 30 days,” said committee chairman Lemias Mashile.

The recommendations, which will be adopted in a formal report on Monday, will be submitted to the National Assembly for approval.

Malema was found guilty on four charges of contempt of Parliament.

Shivambu and Ramakatsa were convicted on seven charges each.

The second group of MPs, consisting of Elsabe Louw, Ngwanamakwetle Mashabela, Nthako Matiase, Hlengiwe Maxon, Magdalene Moonsamy, and Andile Mngxitama, who were found guilty on two charges each of contempt of Parliament, also face suspension without pay, but for a shorter period.

“The committee resolved to recommend that they be suspended for 14 days without remuneration,” said Mashile.

The rest of the 20 MPs, who were only found guilty of one charge each, could get off with lighter penalties.

“The committee resolved to recommend that these members should apologise to Parliament verbally in the manner determined by the House,” Mashile said.

The disciplinary process arose from the EFF’s disruption of the National Assembly during President Jacob Zuma’s question time on August 21.

They were apparently unhappy with Zuma’s replies to questions about his private home in Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal, where R246 million of taxpayers’ money had been spent on upgrades.

Ndlozi, the EFF spokesman, was not immediately available for comment.

‘Matlapaneng residents want councillor out after allegations’

Tyalimpi
By Obakeng Maje
Matlapaneng- The community of Matlapaneng village, near Taung packed their tribal Hall on Friday in a quest to dethrone the reigning ward councillor,
Kedumetse “Sephonono” Tyalimpi.

The community members in conjunction with Matlapaneng Youth Forum accused the councillor of unacceptable level of incompetence.

Amongst other issues which they have raised as a ground for their stance is the slow pace at which she responds to the issues affecting the community.

The community members said they have applied for toilets to be built
in their yards, but in some houses, listed as recipients, there are no
toilets at all.

“We are sick and tired of the ward councillor’s behavior towards the
community. We have water problem, toilets issue. We have a newly-built
community hall, but we cannot use it. Some of the residents applied
for the toilets, but were intentionally ignored even though their
names were on the list as recipients” added Modise Lebitsi, who is a
chairperson of Matlapaneng Youth Forum.

He said the community is facing a water crisis and high mast lights
have not worked despite being install more than five years ago.

“Our councillor is not doing anything regarding our daily issues and
she does not co-operate with us. We want our village to be developed,
so we will not tolerate any poor service delivery from those who are
in power” Lebitsi said.

The community agreed that Tyalimpi must go and the local chief, Mme
Keatlaretse Mankuroane shared the same sentiments. “If the community
want to depose the councillor, we will support the motion. As the
Tribal Authority, I suppose we need to work together with the
community. We had some issues with our councillor in the past
regarding her not inviting us into meetings especially when there are
new projects in the area” she said.

However the ANC-led ward councillor, Kedumetse Tyalimpi refutes the
allegations and said what the section of the community is doing, is
just a personal upheaval.

“As a human being, one cannot please all people, so up to so far…I
haven’t received any complains from the masses. Those who are
complaining are just bitter.

“All their allegations are not true. They were supposed to come to me
and explain what they’re not happy with. If there are any issues, then
my door is always open. I believe those who are complaining have a
motive and is just a personal attack on me” Tyalimpi said.

Tyalimpi said the hall will be handed over to the community and she is
still waiting for an instruction from Greater Taung Local
Municipality.

“I sometimes use the hall if the venue where we normally hold our
meetings is unavailable. I’m still waiting for a word from those in
power at local municipality for an official hand over of the hall” she
concludes.

Centers don’t require children to keep up with the rest of the class, complete tasks they’re not developmentally ready for or study material that they have already learned” Mogapi said.
