SA U17 in a goalless draw with Tanzania

Johannesburg- The South African Men’s Under-17 National Team (Amajimbos) played to a goalless draw against hosts Tanzania in the first round first leg of a 2015 African Youth Championships qualifier on Friday, 18 July at the Azam Stadium in Chamazi, Dar es Salaam.

Playing in front of an almost full 7000-seater venue, both sides started well but it was Amajimbos who had the better chances and did land the ball in the back of the net, only to be ruled for offside.

With a 56 percentage of ball possession, the visitors had the Serengeti Boys in all sorts of trouble but their finishing let them down.

Tanzania also had their chances in the first half but they could not break the deadlock.

The hosts were forced to make a substitution early on when Adolph Mtasingwa left the field injured and Kelvin Farrell took his place. A short while later Mashaka Mgujiro came in as a replacement for a struggling Abdallah Jumanee but both couldn’t change the scoreline.

The second half was almost a replica of the second, with both sides having a go at each other but failing to score. In fact Tanzania had more chances to score as the South Africans looked to tire under hot Tanzanian weather conditions.

Shortly after the restart Amajimbos coach Molefi Ntseki brought on fresh legs giving Felix Noge and Vuyo Mantjie game time in place of Sibongakonke Mbatha and Luvuyo Mkatshana respectively.

South Africa could have taken the lead late in this half when striker Khanyisa was one-on-one with goalkeeper Metacha Mnata on two occasions but twice he fluffed his chances. First his weak shot fell into the arms of the goal minder and then he ballooned the ball at the second opportunity.

That is how stayed until the final whistle.

The second leg will be played in two weeks time in South Africa.

The Amajimbos squad is expected to land at the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg tomorrow (Saturday, 19 July).

Another pig cannibalism ‘fiasco’ on North West farm

By Obakeng Maje
Hartbeesfontein- Another animal cruelty fiasco showed its ugly head after more neglected pigs discovered.

The shocking discovery this time was on the Moria farm, a state owned farm outside Hartebeesfontein.

Democratic Alliance Chris Hattingh said it is indicative that the abuse and neglect of livestock in the North West may be of a greater extent than initially thought after the revelation of aggravated animal cruelty on Thandi Modise’s horror farm.

Maritha Coetzee, DA councillor in the Matlosana Municipality on Sunday, has since provided food and water to three pigs through holes in a wall after being informed that the pigs have been without food and water for a while.

Another two pigs in the pen was already dead and was being eaten by the surviving pigs in the pen.

The agricultural unit of the National SPCA was informed of the situation and removed the pigs after obtaining a court order.

“The farm, owned by the state, is under the management of the Matlosana Municipality and is used for Local Economic Development projects. Millions of rands have been spent on the farm for, among others, a vegetable tunnel project – every project, however has led to a failure” Hattingh said.

The Moria farm is across from the farm Syferlaagte located where the SPCA on a previous occasion euthanized on another North West Government Agricultural project, 28 stud cattle, and recently a further two, which were also found in a shocking state of malnutrition.

“The DA will insist on greater involvement of the North West Department of Agriculture in agriculture projects – it is clear that novice farmers are left mostly to themselves without training, support or monitoring” he said.

Bojanala District Municipality Under Siege

By Obakeng Maje
The Democratic Alliance notes with concern the flagrant disregard by the ANC-led Bojanala Platinum District Municipality to adhere to its own Council order rules and processes.

This follows the report leaked to the Beeld from Provincial Treasury stating that intervention is needed in 14 of the 23 Councils in the North West Province.

“The various Council Committees do not provide oversight over their departments as no committee meetings are held” DA Tiaan Kotze said.

DA said they are only committee that does hold meetings is MPAC (Municipal Public Accounts Committee) which holds oversight over Municipal funds.

“The Integrated Development Plan (IDP) committee had two sittings in the last 5 months, where no quorum was reached either time. The Bojanala District is regarded as the fastest growing district in the North-West Province which includes Rustenburg and Madibeng as part of the Platinum Belt” Kotze said.

DA said the decisions that the committees should make go directly to council for approval, where it gets bulldozed through by the ANC majority.

“The roles of a robust and representative council are being blurred into a rubberstamp “yes-house. The DA will not stand for this, as we promised the voters to represent them and carry their best interests in Council” he said.

He said as public representatives they should strive for service delivery excellence in all our decisions they make.-TDN

Taung woman accused of turning a man into a ‘zombie’ fled

By Obakeng Maje
Taung- The community of Mokgareng village, near Taung were up in arms after accusing a local woman with witchcraft.

The community members burnt tyres and barricade the entrance at the house of Vinolia Sesing and sang struggle songs. Sesing,44, is accused of killing Boikie Nthutang and turned him into a zombie.

According to community members, Nthutang died in his sleep and was buried on 5th July 2014.

The cousin of the deceased, Reitumetse Monnahela,16 allegedly saw Boikie Nthutang entered their house with Vinolia Sesing.

“I was busy on my phone and at around 20:00 on Friday,11 July 2014 a week after he was buried, Boikie entered the house walking along with Sesing. I screamed his name and the woman pulled him and they ran away” shocked Reitumetse Monnahela said.

Thabang Nthutang who is also a cousing to Boikie Nthutang said he chased after them(Boikie Nthutang and Vinolia Sesing) but they vanished in the thin air.

“Boikie was wearing all black and I tried by all means to chase after them, but they evaded me. I ran to the woman’s house but could not find her there and her husband could not explain her whereabouts” Thabang said.

Reitumetse Monnahela and Vinolia Sesing are members of Zion Christian Church(ZCC) and according to Monnahela and Sesing’s recorded conversation that is in our possession, Sesing allegedly lures Monnahela to their night scam.

In the conversation, Sesing said Monnahela is so powerful and could be a great asset to her team.

According to Monnahela, she lost her ZCC attire in February this year at church and Sesing brought it to her last week.

“She brought my ZCC attire at my house, but I told her to take it to church and explain where she found it. I could not take that because I suspects that she might have bewitched the attire” Monnahela said.

Sesing in the ‘recorded conversation’ told Monnahela to take off her ZCC attire, ropes and star badge when they come to collect her during the night. She also alleges that she can see Monnahela’s manifested faith and prophetic healing.

However Sesing denied all allegations leveled against her and said she called her church headquarters in Moria to come an intervene.

“I do not know what this people are talking about. Even if they choke me I will never ever agree to this shenanigans. All is lie because I am a devoted church member and does not practice witchcraft” Sesing told our crew.

The community of Mokgareng under a watchful eye of police, were on a night vigil outside Sesing’s house on Wednesday in anticipation of seeing Boikie(deceased) at 00:00 midnight as a zombie, but all their expectations were futile.

On Thursday the community threw stones at Sesing’s house and removed all her belongings. They ordered her and her family to leave the area. According to information, Sesing originates from a neighborhood village, Mokassa but was deposed from the area after being accused of the same matter of turning people into zombies.

“Police are monitoring situation and the woman and her family are under police protection. The decision will be taken after a discussion with a village chief” colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said.

Sesing family was skewed away on Thursday from apoplectic mob. The community wanted to burn her alive but police reacted swiftly.
Traditional healers were brought in at Sesing’s house to throw bones and make diagnosis, but they did not say if the is any zombie in the house.

A local sangoma Maria Gaanewe who has more than 20 years trading as a sangoma said, the sangomas were not suppose to come to the house if they wanted to diagnosis the zombies. “As a sangoma, I believe they were not suppose to visit the house. They were suppose to gather somewhere and throw bones before visiting the area” she said.

Police said they have registered a case of malicious damage to property after Sesing’s house was stoned, but no one has been arrested so far.-TDN
