Deceased: Remoratile Sehemo,5, who was allegedly hanged by his father.

BY REGINALD KANYANE

TAUNG- A 29 year-old man is expected to appear at Taung Magistrate Court on Monday for murder after he hanged his 5 year-old son.

Boitumelo Seoposengwe,29, was subsequently arrested three weeks ago at his home in Maphoitshile village, near Taung after being involved in an argument with his girlfriend.

According to information the couple were engaged in a fierce argument and later on, Boitumelo asked his child Remoratile Sehemo to visit him.

North West police spokesperson colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said the suspect was arrested after he handed himself over to the police.

“Boitumelo allegedly entered his bedroom and hanged the boy from the roof rafters. The atrocity was seen by one of family members and informed the other members. The suspect fled the scene afterwards, but returned at the later stage where he was arrested” Mokgwabone said.

The suspect appeared before court last week Monday, but his case was postponed until Monday for formal bail application.

Seoposengwe opted to be represented by legal aid attorney and the case will resume today.

Gcaba called up to replace Phungwayo

Orlando Pirates defender Ayanda Gcaba has been called up to replace club mate Patrick Phungwayo, who was withdrawn from the Bafana Bafana squad due to knee injury.

Gcaba is expected in Libreville, Gabon on Tuesday, 13 January to join his compatriots who have set up camp in preparation for the CAF Orange Africa Cup of Nations Equatorial Guinea 2015 tournament.

But before then, he will undergo medical assessment tomorrow (Monday, 12 January) and get his visa.

Phungwayo returned home to South Africa on Saturday night (10 January) after undergoing an MRI scan which revealed that he had a tear that needed time to heal.

“It is very unfortunate that we lost Phungwayo but such is life. I would like to thank his club for releasing him to help our cause. We looking forward to working with him again in future,” said Bafana Bafana coach Ephraim Shakes Mashaba.

“And to the new player we say welcome, we look forward to you joining us and working here in Gabon. We know like every player this is a chance you have been waiting for and hope you make a success of it. I have always said that players should be ready for a call-up and he has shown his readiness. Once again thanks to the club for the full cooperation shown in dealing with this matter, we really appreciate the support given to the national team.”

Bafana Bafana are in the same group with Algeria, Ghana and Senegal at the AFCON 2015 tournament.

Zuma admits story is not all good

2194283993

PRESIDENT Jacob Zuma has admitted that the majority of Mzansi’s people still lived in abject poverty.

Delivering the party’s traditional annual 8 January statement, Zuma painted a picture that was contrary to his usual “good story to tell” about the first 20 years of democracy.

“We must not be blind to thereality that many of our people still live in abject poverty and have littleaccess to government services,” said Zuma in his address to an almost- packed Cape Town stadium.

“We must continue to improve their lives.”

Zuma said people were living in poverty because of a lack of jobs, and committed the ruling party to working hard to achieve radical economic transformation.

He said the economy was beingderacialised, and the ANC was taking steps to enhance its developmental role and create an environment more conducive to economic transformation.

He said: “We’ll meet Khune’s agent soon to discuss a new contract.

NKHATHA’S MOVE ANGERS CHIEFS

54b23d20af9bb83453000008

KAIZER Chiefs boss Bobby Motaung is angry.

He said that after they protected striker Kingston Nkhatha, he still went behind their backs to sign a pre-contract with SuperSport United!

Motaung was shocked when he found out via a football website that Nkhatha had signed with the Tshwane outfit.

Nkhatha will join “Matsatsantsa A Pitori” on 1 July, as his contract with Amakhosi expires on 30 June.

Said Motaung: “If someone wants to go to another club he should come forward.

“If he was clear with us we could have discussed this matter and ensured he joined them outright. But players don’t talk about these things, and I also found out on the website.”

Added Motaung: “In Europe, Steven Gerrard (Liverpool captain) came out and made it clear that he was leaving.

ANC members stripping and beating Democratic Alliance member in Cape Town. This was after party fever on the streets of CT. The main reason was that the DA member was passing through the street were they were chanting with songs, so they claim he disrespected them by passing near them wearing DA regalia and he suppose to use different street.
