By OBAKENG MAJE

By OBAKENG MAJE

The Office of the ANC Chief Whip in the North West Provincial Legislature (NWPL), is mourning the death of one of its caucus staff members, Sello Shimmy Moleko.

A staffer (55) who served as Constituency Officer, died in a head-on collision involving his VW Amarok Bakkie and a VW Polo Sedan that occurred on the R503 road between Lichtenburg and Mahikeng around 7:30pm on Sunday evening.

The North West Community Safety and Transport Management spokesperson, Lucas Mothibedi said: “Please note that, the R503 road linking Mahikeng and Lichtenburg is closed. This comes after a head-on collision.

“One of the vehicles has caught fire and the scene is still active. Motorists are advised to use alternative roads. The alternative route is, if you coming from Lichtenburg, please turn at Thusong Hospital and use that road to Mahikeng.”

Mothibedi said those who come from Mahikeng to Lichtenburg, they can either use the same road of Buhrmansdrif or go to Ottoshop and turn right onto R505 to Lichtenburg.

Meanwhile, the ANC Chief Whip at the North West Provincial Legislature (NWPL), Paul Sebegoe said the two vehicles caught fire on impact resulting in the two drivers, who were alone in their respective vehicles succumbing to their injuries at the scene of the horrific accident, near Blaauwbank.

“We are shocked and deeply saddened by the untimely demise of comrade Shakes Moleko as Sello was affectionately known. His contribution in the coordination of ANC Parliamentary Constituency Offices across the province and the support that he rendered the ANC Provincial Department of Information and Publicity (DIP) was invaluable.

“Moleko who had earlier in the day supported the ANC Easter Church Services Visit programme in Potchefstroom and thereafter proceeded to another in Ottosdal/Letsopa in the Tswaing Sub-District of the ANC Ngaka Modiri Molema Region,” he said.

Sebegoe further said Moleko was on route home when he was involved in the road crash that claimed his life. He added that Moleko who had joined the Office of the ANC Chief Whip in 2009, has left an indelible mark as he leaves behind a legacy of selflessness that characterised his loyal service to the glorious movement and revolutionary life.

“He was like a live wire with a larger-than-life personality, forthright as well as a courageous and devoted cadre that understood the importance of supporting the organization as the only vehicle to change the lives of people.

“His love for the movement, interpersonal skills as well as ability to network as a team player made this revolutionary cadre an indispensable member of the ANC support staff, hence we will be poorer without him because he was one, we could count on,” said Sebegoe.

He said the ANC Caucus deeps its revolutionary banner in honour of Moleko as a patriot and a courageous cadre, who dedicated his life to serving the movement that he loved dearly. Sebegoe said Moleko, who hailed from Itsoseng, but had set up home in Mosiane View in Mahikeng is survived by his wife, son, mother and relatives.

MYSAFA player self-registration pricing update

By OBAKENG MAJE

Inqaku General Manager, Shane Felix said the release of Inqaku’s player self-registration service marked a pivotal moment for club administrators, streamlining the cumbersome process of electronic player registration. Felix said effective immediately, clubs will only be charged the standard league registration fee if they opt to use the otherwise free service, eliminating the previous flat introductory fee of R25 per registration.

“We listened to our clubs and LFAs and as of 25 March, there is no additional cost for using player self-registration,” he said.

Here’s how player self-registration works:

  1. Club Invitation: A coach or club administrator shares the club’s player self-registration link with players. (Log into admin.mysafa.net or contact the Inqaku support team to get your club’s link.)
  2. Electronic Submission: Players use their smartphones or tablets to register and submit their information directly to the club admin.
  3. Administrative Review: Upon receiving a new registration, the club admin is notified via email. They can then review and approve (or reject) the registration, assigning the player to the appropriate team and submitting to the league administrator for final approval.

He said in just a few short minutes an entire team can be registered, reviewed, and submitted by club admins, eliminating hours of tedium. Felix said clubs are charged when a player is added to a team by the club admin, with pricing based on the league attributes.

For more information contact the Inqaku support team at support@inqaku.com.

What a game – Broos pleased with Bafana’s performance

By OBAKENG MAJE

Bafana Bafana coach, Hugo Broos was a happy man after his players delivered an impressive display during a six-goal thriller against hosts Algeria at a packed Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers on Tuesday night. Broos said the South African senior men’s team drew 3-3 with Algeria in an action-packed FIFA Series match that had the fans on the edge of their seats for the majority of the 90 minutes.

He further said the Algerians were the first to get their name up on the stadium scoreboard when Yassine Benzia opened the scoring in the 22nd minute. Broos added that, visitors stormed back and equalised through Themba Zwane in the 34th minute following a cross from Mihlali Mayambela.

“Bafana Bafana then took the lead in the 47th minute when Zwane beat goalkeeper Moustafa Zeghba with a beautiful strike just before the break. Algeria clawed their way back when Brahimi equalised to make it 2-2 in the 53rd minute. Bafana Bafana regained the lead when Iqraam Rayners made it 3-2 in the 65th minute, but Benzia equalised in the 70th minute to make it 3-3.

“What a game! It was a fantastic game from both teams, but the performance of South Africa was really, really good. We played against a very strong team, but I do not think there was much difference between the quality of our game and the quality of the game of Algeria. That means we have progressed in the last few months,” he said.

Broos said the was a performance that satisfied as he wanted to use the South African senior men’s team’s participation in the FIFA Series in Algeria as an opportunity to widen his pool of players ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June.

North West Premier, Nono Maloyi wishes christian community peaceful Easter holiday

By OBAKENG MAJE

The acting North West Premier, Nono Maloyi said they wishes various Christian-faith based organisations a blessed and safe Easter weekend as thousands will be travelling to different churches and denominations to seek divine intervention and spiritual upliftment.

Maloyi said in the past few days, he has been crisscrossing the province, visiting various churches and attending prayer sessions ahead of this important weekend in the calendar of the christian religion. He further said the visits form part of ongoing efforts to foster social cohesion and promote moral regeneration programmes in various communities across the province.

“Our communities are riddled with social ills such as drug abuse, gangsterism and teenage pregnancy among others. My visit and interaction with various leaders of faith-based organisations and denominations in the Christian community is primarily aimed at cementing our relationship with them to help address various issues of socio-economic concern afflicting our communities.

“The religious sector must be applauded and commended for the role it continues to play in the province. As we enter this holy weekend, we do so cognisant of the gains we have made in the past thirty years and the challenges that lie ahead,” he said.

Maloyi further said they implore their leaders in various churches and denominations to pray for the government and its leaders to prioritize the needs for the people. He added that, he has also made an appeal to those who will be visiting the province to be cautious on the roads, stick to the speed limit, take rest intervals, be tolerant towards each other and desist from drinking while driving.

“We wish the christian community a peaceful Easter and the celebration of the Resurrection of Christ,” said Maloyi.
