The South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO) has wished North West University (NWU)-Mahikeng campus students well in exams that are starting on Monday.

“We hope that students have used the postponement of exams that was granted by University Management to prepare adequately to ensure that whatever effort and investment that was put into the academic year are not lost , ” SANCO North West Provincial Chairperson,Paul Sebegoe said.

Sebegoe highlighted that the 2015 #FeesMustFall student protests will be remembered for giving transformation of higher education the quantum leap that it needed.

“We hope that the commission to be appointed by President Zuma will open the doors of learning wider for the poor, deepen transformation of higher education and address outstanding issues like university autonomy and outsourcing ,” he said.

Sebegoe also welcomed Minister of Home Affairs,Malusi Gigaba’s announcement that study visas for international students has been extended to 31 December.

“The extension has eased pressure on international students from neighbouring Botswana,SADC states and other countries on the continent to complete their study programme, ” he added.
