A 33 year-old man was denied bail by Mahikeng Magistrate’s Court on Thursday over murder. Tebogo Mokopanele was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his mother to death. The atrocity took place last week Sunday at Ratloung village in Mahikeng. Mokopanele appeared before court and was denied bail.

North West police spokesperson, Major Pelonomi Makau said: “The suspects allegedly arrived at his house with his girlfriend and demanded food from his mother. He assaulted a 63 year-old mother because there was no food in the house. The woman was certified death at the scene and Mokopanele was arrested.”

Mokopanele’s murder case will resume on Wednesday for formal bail application.
