1 August 2026- A woman who was reported missing, Lizeny Molehe (22) from Longlands, Delportshoop, was found dead. The police launched an investigation into the disappear Molehe after she went missing on 24 June 2026.
Accordingto the Northern Cape police spokesperson, Colonel Cherelle Ehlers, it is believed that she was last seen at her residence on 24 June 2026, when she left with friends at approximately 11pm. Ehlers said Molehe allegedly told her friends that she was going to collect a cell phone from another friend, however had not been seen since.
“On 7 July 2026, she was reported missing and an extensive investigation was launched. The Mounted Unit from Kimberley and K9 Unit from Upington also joined the search.
“On 31 July 2026, at approximately at 5:45pm, a community member noticed a body in the river near Sydney-on-Vaal. The police in Delportshoop together with the Provincial Diving Unit, were dispatched and the body was retrieved at approximately 28:30pm,” she said.
Ehlers further said the body of Molehe was formally identified by her next of kin. Ehlers added that the investigations into the cause of her death are underway.
