The residents of Madipelesa village, near Taung, said they were shocked by a burglary at Tontonyane High School on Saturday morning. It is alleged that criminals broke into the school and stole some items.
The North West police spokesperson, Col Adele Myburgh said: “We can confirm that a burglary case was opened at the school at Kgomotso Police Station.
“It is alleged that a teacher who was presenting extra classes, entered the school premises on Saturday morning at around 8:45am and found the gate lock and the lock on the main door of the administration block broken.”

Myburgh said the microwave oven was stolen during the burglary. She added that the investigations in the matter continue and no arrest has been made.
Meanwhile, the North West Department of Education spokesperson, Elias Malindi did not respond to our media inquiry sent to him through e-mail and WhatsApp. Also, Malindi’s phone rang unanswered and never returned our calls.
