Heartfelt condolence messages continue to pour into the Makwetu’s family after the passing of the outgoing Auditor General, Kimi Makwetu. According to the statement released by the Auditor General’s Office, Makwetu (54) died in hospital this afternoon.
Auditor General’ spokesperson, Africa Boso said: “It is with great sadness and shock that we announce the passing of Auditor General, Kimi Makwetu this afternoon. Makwetu passed away in hospital. He was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in 2018.
“As the national audit office, we join the Makwetu family in mourning his death. We ask the public to keep the family in their thoughts as they come to terms with his passing and to give them space to deal with his passing.”
Boso said the Makwetu family will share details of how they would like to honour their beloved husband and father when they are ready.
