Six suspects were arrested on the N12 after a business was robbed undisclosed cash in Tigane near Klerksdorp.
The Highway Patrol traffic officers and with SAPS traced the vehicle that was used during the robbery after immediately been alerted and the vehicle was spotted on the N12.
The six suspects were driving a white Mazda midge with the Gauteng registration number, and the police found cash, 9mm pistol with two rounds and one magazine.
The suspects are linked to other robberies which happened at Makwassie, Lichtenburg, Alabama and Kanana. This will be determined by the further investigation by the police.
Community Safety and Transport Management MEC Gaoage Molapisi commended the police traffic officers for having swiftly responded to the alert and arrested the suspects.
“Our law enforcement officers are continuously working day and night to clean the N12. This is not the first time they made a success this year.”
“This should send a strong message to criminals that they do not have a place in Bokone Bophirima.
“We are going to spoil all the picnics and honeymoon that criminals are used to and will not allow them to spoil our mission to Rebrand, Renew and Reposition our province.
People should feel free at their homes, work, schools, streets and businesses as dictated by the National Development Plan”.
“We will continue working together with our law enforcement agencies to make our province safe and habitable,” concluded Molapisi.
