FREE State police on Tuesday said they had found a human skeleton between Senekal and Rosendal in the east of the province last week.
The remains still had gumboots attached to the feet and a blanket on top.
Police spokesperson Captain Phumelelo Dhlamini told The New Age newspaper that the male skeleton was found last Saturday and they were looking for the family.
“The police were alerted by a passerby who saw the skeleton next to the road 10km away from Senekal in the direction of Rosendal,” Dhlamini said.
He said the skeleton was wearing black gumboots, a pair of trousers and a blanket.
“We suspect that the deceased might be a Lesotho citizen,” Dhlamini said.
“We have been trying to locate his relatives for the past week and thus far no one has come forward to claim the body,”
He said the cause of the death was unknown as the police were waiting for the post-mortem results.

Naledi municipality offiçes closed after unruly protesters pounced on staff

THE Naledi municipality offices were allegedly closed down after a stabbing incident.
According to reports, the unruly protesters embarked on a protest after they demanded to be hired on a road construction project that is underway in Vryburg.
It is alleged that one of the municipality’s employee was stabbed in a commotion after some of the protesters entered into the municipality’s offices and pounced on employees.
The offices will remained closed until the safety of the employees is guaranteed.
