The police are investigating a case of inquest after a 6 year-old minor drowned in Henry Street in Promosa, Potchefstroom.  The incident took place on Wednesday at about 4pm.

North West police spokesperson, Sergeant Kelebogile Moleko said that the minor was sent to go and buy sweets by her guardian at a nearby tuck shop and took her way along with her two friends.

“According to reports, the three minors went to swim at a neighbouring house which is two blocks away from where they stayed. The employee of the house only heard the sound of children screaming and when she went outside to inspect, she noticed that the victim drowned. The victim was certified dead by the Emergency Medical Services at the scene,” Moleko said.
