TWO suspects aged 38 and 42 were arrested by North West police after armed robbery and hijacking. A 25 year-old man was allegedly delivering cigarettes in various shops when he was approached by three men.
North West police spokesperson, Sergeant Kealeboga Molale said three men wearing balaclavas, approached the man and pointed him with a firearm.
“Two men were arrested by police after they hijacked a man who was delivering cigarettes at various retail shops in Khuma location, near Klerksdorp. They allegedly abducted him and drove to the abandoned mines.
“The suspects were offloading the cigarettes from the victim’s car when they were confronted by security guards who were patrolling the area. One suspect was shot on the leg while the other one was arrested after the commotion. Another suspect managed to flee the scene and police are investigating a case of armed robbery,” Molale said.
She said the wounded suspect was still under police guard at a local hospital and the other one will appear before the Stilfontein Magistrate’s Court on today.
