Kimberley – A grieving Platfontein family were shocked to be presented with the wrong body in a casket, instead of that of their 34-year-old son.

Bereaved family members and mourners were gathered at home and were awaiting the arrival of the deceased from about 7am so that he could be buried on Friday.

By noon they indicated that they had not seen sight of their dead relative.

José Cambinda, the father of the deceased, said that the funeral undertakers transported the body in a ordinary vehicle and not a hearse.

“They showed us the body outside the house to confirm identification, but instead of my eldest son, Joseph Cambinda, there was a woman inside the coffin. The family is very upset and hurt about the mix-up.”
