Vaaltar Fm’s presenter, Tsholofelo Kgosimmele is a radio presenter for a community radio station based in Taung, in the North West province.

Born and bred in a small town called Taung in the North West province, this dynamic young lady is a welcomed breath of fresh air to the airwaves.

She is a journalism graduate and has a great passion for all things in entertainment industry and it looks like she has a bright future ahead of her.

Tsholofelo has always wanted to be on radio and she has this to say “I wanted to get into radio for the longest time, specifically community radio. I like Vaaltar Fm as it is a community radio station in my home town and that is the perfect place to gain and perfect my radio skills. I am gaining valuable experience while giving back to my community, I am killing two birds with one stone”.

She presents two day time weekly shows on Vaaltar fm , one is a talk show called Business Talk and the other is a magazine show called EasyJust.

“On Business Talk we discuss business related topics as well as profiling local business people and their different ventures. It is quite an interesting show ,I have always wanted to go into business, especially in the fashion business in particular and this show helps me tremendously as I learn the dos and don’ts of business every day” she outlines.

Tsholofelo is a researcher as well as a producer for both the shows that she presents; she is an incredible radio presenter as she strives to deliver every single link to perfection. She juggles two weekly daytime shows with completely different content and makes every effort to perfect that.

“That is what I love about community radio stations, one gets to learn and do so much in a short period of time.

“I do another show which is also a day time weekly show, but this show is different as it is a magazine format, meaning we tackle various issues that are related to the community and we play great soul ballads, the likes of Peabo Bryason and the legendary Etta James just to name a few” she smiles.

She admits that when she first started Easy Just, she struggled a bit with the genre of music that she was playing on the show, and said she had an idea about soul music but it wasn’t the kind of music she listens to, but now six months down the line soul ballads are her thing.

“I love the intimacy of radio where most of the time it is just you and the mic and sometimes you even forget that there are people listening to you out there but it is unbelievable fun”

Going forward, Tsholofelo would love to work for a bigger or larger radio station that reaches a bigger demographic than Vaaltarf Fm.

“Eventually I would want to go into talk radio and pursue television, I would love to have a talk show both on radio and television that deals with issues that are relevant to women. I would discuss broad topics ranging from fashion to female mutilation to women entrepreneurs and I believe that is exactly where my career path will take me. I also have a business in the pipeline that I am working on getting off the ground and hope it will be a great success,” she said.

Even though she haven’t been on radio that long, one piece of advice she can give to someone wanting to go on radio is that you need to have passion for what you are doing. And said one do not go into it for the wrong reasons.
