A body of a 40-year-old councillor, Tueloetsi Thipo was found on Wednesday along the N14 between Vryburg and Kuruman by a passerby who alerted Reivilo police.
Councillor Tshipo(40) worked at Joe Morolong Local Municipality in the Northern Cape.
North West police spokesperson captain Paul Ramaloko said the councillor was last seen on Monday, by his brother when he said he was going to pour petrol at a nearby filing station.
“The day his body was found, a missing person report was registered by his family at the Bothithong Police in the Northern Cape. Councillor Tshipo’s body was found with a single gun wound to the neck,” Ramaloko said.
Provincial Commissioner of the North West, Major General Jacob Tsumane condemned the murder of a Northern Cape Councillor in the North West.
“This appears to be an act of an organised criminal group who have no value to life. My team will work around the clock to bring the perpetrators to book” said Major General Tsumane.
