Zeerust- A 40-year-old man from Sebalagane section in Motswedi village, near. Zeerust handed himself over to the police after an alleged rape case was reported against him, North West police spokesperson, captain Paul Ramaloko said.

Ramaloko said it is alleged that the suspect raped his 13-year-old daughter while her mother went to assist at a nearby house with funeral preparations.  

“It is further alleged that when the victim’s mother returned home, she noticed that the child was not at home and went to look for her. She was allegedly found at a neighbour’s house,” Ramaloko said.

He said when the mother spoke to her she broke-down in  tears narrating her rape ordeal to her and pointed her father as the perpetrator. 

“The mother of victim allegedly approached the Motswedi police to lay a charge. After the man heard that a case is opened against him, he handed himself. He is now in the Motswedi police cells due to appear in before the Motswedi magistrates court on Thursday,” he said.

The Acting Cluster Commander of Zeerust police Colonel Reginah Ntoagae lauded the parent for coming fourth to report the case.

“We will give this case the necessary attention” added Colonel Ntoagae.
