 DSC_5037

BY OBAKENG MAJE
Hip Hop music is the way to go nowadays and is being used as a medium tool to convey the message especially amongst the youth. North West upcoming hip hop artist Morex, says he is ready to rub shoulder with big guns….so seatback and relax as he let you into his world.

Oratile Nicholas Gaenone said even though hip hop artists were known for mixing the political and social commentary of political rap with the criminal elements, all has changed because now hip hop is the most popular music genre currently.

“The landscape of hip hop music has changed into totality and it can be used as a medium of communication especially amongst the youth. Hip Hop has begun to diversify with other musical styles emerging on the national scene, such gospel, choral, kwaito and most notably, RnB” Morex said.
A 21 year-old artist from Manthe village, near Taung said he is ready to claim his chunk in the dog-eat-dog industry.

“Hip hop music in its infancy has been described as an outlet and a voice for the disenfranchised youth of low-economic areas, as the culture reflected the social, economic and political realities of their lives,” he said.
Morex will be dropping his Mixtape at the end of this month and he said even though he came across challenges, he appreciates all support he received from his fans and family alike.

“I am totally relieved because now my Mixtape will be dropping at the end of this month. I named it “Le Nna Ke Gorogile”, loosely translated….Me too I’ve arrived. I worked with some renowned producers like Dr Dogg, Remo, Makoya from Kuruman and featured other local artists” Gaenone said.

Sassy-voice artist, Morex said this is the best time for him to drop his mixtape because his music targets then youth.

“We need to know where we come from as the society and most of my songs target the youth. They need to know that we are the leaders of tomorrow, and we need to stand up and be counted.

“The youth seem to be relaxing and taking life for granted, whereas our lives perish. Those who came before us, fought so hard for the freedom we have and now what we do as the youth? We misuse it and does not protect our hard-earned democracy,” he outlines.

Morex said education is very imperative and advised the youth to take it very serious as it is the only gateway vehicle from poverty.

“I am 21-year-old, but still doing grade 10 and I’m not giving up. What happened into life did not break me, but made me a better person. I lost my mom at the early age, growing in hard conditions with no one to look up for were another stambling block. I cannot let all what I went through to determine my future” he said.

The long-awaited Mixtape of the charismatic rapper who is believed to take this unique South African style of hip hop to another level will interact with music lovers.  Motswako is a hip hop style made famous by Khuli Chana, HHP, Morafe and others.

Morex said he is grateful and the love he receives is an indication that his hard work helps him find his niche in the local music industry and is finally starting to bear fruit.

“The mixtape is based on my personal journey through challenging times of my life. The mixtape is tittled Nna Ke Gorogile, which is a metaphor of my life. My debut album will be dropped at the beginning of next year, but for now I am focusing on my mixtape and singles” he concludes.

Johannesburg – Cabinet’s acceptance of Police Minister Nathi Nhleko‘s “rubbish” report into so-called security upgrades to President Jacob Zuma‘s Nkandla home is cowardly and says something about the calibre of ministers.

This is according to United Democratic Movement leader Bantu Holomisa, who called the report a whitewash and led opposition parties in a boycott of the recent ad hoc committee set up to deal with the report in Parliament.

“It ridiculed the calibre of the Cabinet that we have,” he told News24.

A US indictment last week said the cash was paid to former Fifa executive Jack Warner to secure the right to hold the tournament in 2010 — one of a slew of recent allegations of corruption at football’s world governing body.

But South Africa has rejected the accusation, saying the $10 million payment was an honest donation to support football among the “African diaspora” in the Caribbean.

On Wednesday night, Masie tricked his colleagues at the Alexandra police station into giving him another firearm. Hours later, he stormed the police station and mowed down four people – his partner, Sowela Anna Nkuna, her uncle, Mathews Mapaya, 39, and a neighbour, Stephina Semenya, 52, with the gun.
