Cosatu President Sdumo Dlamini has wished South Africans and workers in particular a well deserved rest and a prosperous 2015.
Dlamini says workers must celebrate the hard work and efforts they have put over the last 12 months.

But he warned that they should do that conscious of the fact that they have to safe for the new year.

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has also wished South Africans a merry Christmas – saying the festive season offers an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of democratic South Africa and the challenges that remain.

Ramphosa says South Africans have much to be proud of – including the democratic legacy of Nelson Mandela. Ramaphosa says Madiba remains a model for South Africans to emulate. However he says a key problem remains poverty and inequality.

Meanwhile, Cosatu says the third decade of freedom and democracy should be dedicated to a radical transformation of the economy.

It says although a lot has been achieved in the first two decades, it did not make a meaningful dent on the economy as the country’s wealth is still in the hands of few.
