Winning Miss World has changed my life: Strauss

Knowing the country was fully supporting her is one of the things that kept newly crowned Miss World calm during the competition. The new Miss World Rolene Strauss told the SABC that winning it has changed her life. “Leading up to the competition I was really really content with what was going to happen. I knew that the best thing will happen. I knew that if I and South Africa were meant to win, we were going to win,” said Strauss.

Cleaners made managers to be demoted to cleaners again: MEC

The North West provincial government has with immediate effect suspended a municipal councillor of the Lekwa TeemaneLekwa Teemane  municipality at Bloemhof.

Councillor Guilty Modise has been suspended following the outcome of the forensic investigation conducted at the municipality earlier this year. The community had embarked on violent protests, complaining about maladministration, corruption and fraud within the municipality.

It is a hive of activity as the North West Premier celebrates and acknowledges elderly people from various villages in Tswaing municipality, North West. Thousands of elderly people in Tswaing municipality in the North West are in a jubilant mood ahead of Christmas Day. This is as they received Christmas gifts, including food parcels, walking sticks, blankets and other accessories during celebrations to acknowledge their mentorship. Premier Supra Mahumapelo, who hosted the event at his home village of Manamolle, outside Mahikeng, has emphasized the importance of elders in what he described as a “decaying modern day” society. Slovopark fire razes 50 shacks

Johannesburg – A fire raged through Slovoville informal settlement destroying at least 50 shacks, Johannesburg Emergency Services said on Saturday.

Three fire engines and two water tankers were on the scene, said spokesperson Nana Radebe.

“The fire is under control. We have one person that was taken to hospital [with] cuts on his head,” she said.

The fire was reported at about 20:00 and its cause was unknown.
