Mahikeng – A 45-year-old man is in a serious condition after he was bitten by a snake in Roodraai in the North West on Monday afternoon.

Community members in Rysmierbult, Roodraai found a puff adder near a home and tried catching it, Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann said. As they were trying to get it, the snake bit the man.

The man was treated on scene before being transported to hospital for further medical care.
