Kimberley – The naked body of a five-year-old girl was found with multiple stab wounds not far from the Galeshewe Police Station on Sunday morning.
A screwdriver was found about 10 metres from the ditch where two community members made the gruesome discovery. It is possible that the girl was raped before she was murdered.

Johannesburg – It has taken Gordon Igesund only three months to complete his redemption-mission after steering SuperSport United to Telkom Knockout triumph.
United clinched the Cup championship in a captivating final after beating Platinum Stars 3-2 at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
Having been ridiculed during his time as Bafana Bafana coach, the 57-year-old found refuge at Matsatsantsa after his contract was discontinued.
Igesund has credited the team for their hard work and praised management for providing him with a group of quality players.
New lease
“The players have been brilliant since I took over at the club. They have bought into what myself and my assistant coach Serame Letsoaka have been trying to do,” Igesund said.
Having come from a desolate state, United gave Igesund a new lease on life and gave the tactician a chance to prove the naysayers wrong.
During his tumultuous time with the national team, Igesund was the subject of a misconduct investigation for attempting to influence players over bonuses during the championship of African Nations, but was cleared of any wrongdoing.
At United, Igesund rediscovered his Midas touch and reminded the country why he was the only coach in history to lift the Premiership with four different clubs.
Abundance
Igesund said the return to club football had re-invigorated him as daily interaction with players was what made him thrive.
“When I came in I wanted to make a few changes. I came to United and found an abundance of players who like to go forward.
“The most important thing is to credit the players for responding so quickly to me. They have been able to go out there and execute out on the field of play since the first match.”
Having won the Premiership with Santos, Manning Rangers, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, Igesund believes that his current team has the potential to grab more success.
“These are top-class players I’ve got in the team and it’s going to need time but I don’t see why this team can’t go on to achieve more championships.”
It was a thrilling final that ensued in Soweto that saw plenty goalmouth action throughout the two hours after scores were level at 1-1 after the regulated 90 minutes.
Penalties
An extra-time wonder-goal from Thuso Phala handed United the crown after two penalties from Clayton Daniels, while Robert Ng’ambi and Mogakolodi Ngele found the back of the net for Stars.
Igesund praised Dikwena for their attacking style of play displayed in the final.
“I thought it was a wonderful game of football. Both teams wanted to attack and Stars played the way they wanted to. At some point it was end-to-end stuff.
“I am obviously very proud of my team. My players responded well after we went down after the first goal.”

Johannesburg – The department of correctional services would INVESTIGATE
allegations that murderer Don Steenkamp had flouted rules in the Kimberley prison, it said on Saturday.
“Should there be a serious allegation that’s made against him, we will investigate and act accordingly,” said FREE State and NorthCape Regional Deputy Commissioner Grace Molatedi.

Rustenburg – A 29-year-old man was arrested after fatally stabbing a Mozambican man in a fight over a girlfriend at Borolelo in Swartruggens, North West police said on Sunday.
Captain Pelonomi Makau said the man would appear in court on Monday to answer to a charge of murder.
In a separate crime in Mahikeng, police arrested a 29-year-old man for stabbing a woman believed to be his girlfriend to death.
The 24-year-old woman was stabbed in the neck and breast in Lonely Park village.
In a tavern in Madibogo, a 24-year-old man was stabbed to death during an argument, and his assailant was arrested.
On Friday, a 38-year-old SECURITY OFFICER was stabbed in the back of the head at Modimole village.
The owner of the shop he worked at had called for him after four people had tied him up.
The SECURITY GUARD died as a result of the stabbing and the robber ran off with his firearm, airtime voucers and the shop owner’s cellphone.

Kimberley- Two suspects were arrested on Thursday last week in Postmasburg and were charged with possession of drugs and possession of firearm without a licence.
Juckie Desvegam van Wyk (25) and Jasmon Morne Seekoei (21) appeared in Postmasburg magistrates’ court on 25 November 2014.
They were released on bail of R300 each and the case is remanded to 08 December 14.
“It is alleged that the Postmasburg police receive information about possible dealing in drugs in Newton. The police reacted swiftly and after searching the said premises, they confiscated 13 mandrax tablets to the value of R1 300 as well as a firearm and rounds ammunition” Major Dimakatso Mooi said.
Lieutenant Gavin Booysen of Postmasburg police commended members for a job well done. He also thanked the community for coming forth with such valuable information.
“This is proof that the police together with the community can do more to win the fight against crime”, he said.

Rustenburg- Despite losing to SuperSport United in the Telkom Knockout Finals on Saturday, Platinum Stars players have demonstrated their football prowess in the field and made Bokone Bophirima Province proud, Premier Supra Mahumapelo said in congratulating the Phokeng-based team for making it to the finals and putting up a brave fight during the encounter.
“We think they played well and the fact that the game went into extra-time shows that they did what they could to try and bring the cup home to Bokone Bophirima. They missed many opportunities but we hope that they will make us proud in future encounters and help us put our province on the map,” said Premier Mahumapelo.
The Rustenburg based Dikwena managed to hold Matsatsantsa a Pitori to a 1-1 draw, before the game went into extra-time, where SuperSport won by 3-2.
Mahamapelo says Dikwena must go back to the drawing board as the province still expects a lot from them.
