Sao Paulo, Brazil- Suspended Ghana midfielder Kelvin Prince Boateng finally spoke out about the incident that led to his suspension and holds no punches against both Ghana Football Association and Ghanaian coach Kwasi Appiah.
The Schalke 04 play-maker has told German sports online portal –
SportsBlid.de that he is unsure of returning to play for the Black
Stars after describing the Ghana FA’s 2014 World Cup organization
as a disappointing and stating that Kwasi Appiah is a tactically
bankrupt coach.
“I never thought that preparations for the World Cup will be so poorly-organised. The
hotel, the flight – everything was organized in an amateurish manner”
Boateng told SportsBlid.de.
“We flew to our first training camp from Amsterdam to Miami. However,
in two groups, because there was little space on the flights. One
group flew over Atlanta, the other flew through New York. We sat
around 9 hours at the airport, a total of 19 hours we were on the road”
he said.
He revealed that while they were forced to travel in such situation,
stuffed in Economy Class, the Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi, his
wife and children travelled in Business Class . He also claimed that
he lost his luggage when they finally board in chartered flight in
Brazil.
He also shed a light about the accommodation. “Before the first World Cup match against United State, we slept in a hotel, I say damp,
which may have never been from FIFA. It was a huge water damage. The
room were damp. I had to change rooms because my room was like a
private swimming pool. There was so much water dripping from the
ceiling.”
About the incident that led to his suspension, Boateng said it came as
a shocker. “Sulley and I were joking at the training. The coach stopped
us and we said it was all okay. Suddenly I was sent to the cabin.
Later I asked the coach, if he had the problem with me. He yelled at
me and insulted me for example with ‘f**k off. This incident occurred four days before my suspension” said the German born.
Boateng said on Wednesday, a day before his suspension, there was a
meeting with the squad. He told the person in charge that they lied to
them and only made empty promises. Thursday morning a white piece of
paper were dropped under his door and he was suspended. He believe
that the GFA president could’ve turned the table.
Boateng said he in unsure about his future at Ghanaian national team.
“They kicked me out yet I love the country and the people, but under
the circumstances it is difficult for any athlete to continue playing.
I am going on vacation and come mid- July with full power back to
Schalke, then we’ll see” he concluded.
