Johannesburg – Four bodies of illegal miners were found by security guards at a gold mine in Benoni on Saturday, Gauteng police said.

Security guards found several cartridges near the bodies at 09:00, Lt-Col Lungelo Dlamini said. The motive for the murder was not known at this stage, Dlamini said.

Police were investigating a murder case. No arrests have been made.

The bodies have not been identified.
