Police in Mmabatho near Mahikeng have opened an Inquest case after a four year old boy from Extension 39 was electrocuted by illegal connected electricity on Tuesday at about 14:30.

“It is alleged that the deceased was electrocuted while playing on the locked burglar door at his parents’ house” Brigadier Ngubane said.

He was certified dead by Mahikeng Emergency Services.

“It is alleged that the owners of the house rented out one of their rooms to the Bangladesh Nationals to utilise it as a Tuck shop who connected an illegal electricity in their business. It is reported that the Bangladesh had since left and discontinued operating their tuck shop business” He said.

After they left their business, the owners of the house continued staying in a house which had illegal electricity connections without reporting this to Eskom. Police investigations continues.

Klerksdorp-Two suspects, Stone Tlhokanelo, aged 23 years and Letlhogonolo Khula, 34 years old who were arrested on Sunday on allegations of dealing in Dagga appeared in court today at the Klerksdorp Magistrate’s court.

“The suspects will remain in custody and will appear again on 16 January for bail application” Brigadier Ngubane said.

“It is alleged that these suspects are responsible for selling dagga and other drugs to scholars at schools around Klerksdorp. The schools in the area are Milner and Technical High School in Klerksdorp” He said.

There has been an ongoing concern by the surrounding community in Adam View that people sell dagga to school kids.

The schools were visited by provincial management last year to try and educate them about the illegality of using drugs.

Police are appealing to parents, teachers and scholars to report any suspicious looking persons seeing around the school premises.

Cape town – BAFANA Bafana will take to the Cape Town Stadium tonight for the first time in two years, in front of an expected 30 000-strong crowd, after ticket sales picked up yesterday after a sluggish start.

Yesterday, the SA Football Association (Safa) also unveiled their secret weapon, in the form of Minister of Sport Fikile Mbalula, to “inspire” the 23-man squad.

Since sales opened on December 21, the city had managed to sell only about 12 000 tickets before yesterday for the national team’s friendly international against Norway.

The match is one of two warm-up games Bafana Bafana will play before their African Cup of Nations opener against the Cape Verde Islands on January 19.

Bafana, who last played in Cape Town in 2010 in a 1-0 defeat to the US, will play Algeria in a friendly game on Saturday at the Orlando Stadium.

The city’s director for tourism, events and marketing, Anton Groenewald, said between the city, Computicket, Shoprite and Checkers outlets, they were processing about 700 tickets an hour yesterday.

Roughly 19 000 of the 45 000 available tickets had been sold, he said, adding: “We are expecting a crowd of about 32 000 supporters.”

“What we are experiencing here is a typical soccer fan behaviour of purchasing tickets at the last minute. That is something we are hoping to improve on in the next 12 months, to encourage people to purchase tickets on time.”

The game kicks off at 8pm and there is an appeal for Capetonians to grab the remaining tickets.

“We have made an appeal to the public and I’m sure that they will attend the matches.

“We live in Africa, and we know if a game is at five, people get their tickets at five to five,” Bafana coach Gordon Igesund said at a press conference at the Cape Town Stadium yesterday.

“This is a great period for South African football, and to be honest with you, I think the support has been great…

“There is a good vibe out there, and I think we will play in front of full houses. This is a great chance to unite the country again.”

Igesund said it was a “great pity” that Capetonians were going to miss out on live Afcon games.

Tickets are available from Computicket and Shoprite Checkers. By late yesterday, R50 tickets had been sold out and only R100 tickets were left.

Delareyville-North West Department of Transport impounded several buses that were considered unroadworthy yesterday.

Most buses are long distance and were consficated for different reasons as some of them were experiencing brakes problems and tyres that are not worthy the Department Spokesperson said.

“The buses were impounded because they having brake problems and their tyres were faded away” Belly Matlhakuleng said.

“They will not leave the Traffic Department unless being towed-away or with valid testing certificate” He continues.

Buses are kept at Delareyville depot and the buses management were not happy about the department decisions.

South Africa experienced more of deaths on its roads during festive season were more than 1300 people died.

Mahikeng- South African universities are experiencing a backlog on late registrations and most courses are full already and this leave most students with no option,but to search for another option.

This vulnerable students mostly left with no option,but to take a gap year as other end up being a prey for uregistered colleges.

North West MEC of Education,Louisa Mabe adviced students to go and study at FET colleges as they also offer relevant skills.

“To those students who could not be admitted in various universities around the country can explore their chances by studying at various registered FET Colleges across the country” Mabe said.

“Most colleges offer most needed skills while universities mostly based on theory. So go and study there and make sure you choose the relevant course as in North West we short of Travel & Tourism,Engineers and Artisians” she said.

South African universities were swamped up yesterday by potential students who want to further their studies,but most of them were left demoralised as most of their ideal courses were full.

Minister of Higher Education,Blade Nzimande also shared the same sentiment that students must go through FET colleges to further their studies.

However most students are reluctant as they believe standard of education at FET colleges leave more questions than answers.

Bafana Bafana has completed their preparations ahead of their international friendly match against Norway.

The match will take place on Tuesday, 08 January 2013 at the Cape Town Stadium.

Kickoff is at 20h30.

This will be Bafana Bafana’s first match since the announcement of the 23-man squad on the 30th of December 2012.

South Africa had an intensive training session under the watchful eye of head coach Gordon Igesund and his technical team.

Dean Furman was rested for the final session on Monday, 07 January. The midfielder joined camp on Sunday, 06 January after playing in an third round FA Cup tie for his club Oldham Athletic in England on Saturday (05 January). The coach will select from the 22 available players who have all been given a clean bill of health.

“Dean won’t get a run as he has played a lot of games for his club in a short space of time, so we will rest him for tomorrow’s match because the bigger picture is the Orange Africa Cup of Nations 2013 tournament starting in less than two weeks,” said Igesund.

The head coach is confident that his players will do well against the 24th ranked Norway who arrived in South Africa on Friday night.

The two countries have met twice before with South Africa winning one and Norway winning the other.

“We want to win tomorrow night, but we are more focussed on the tournament so I won’t be showing my hand fully as to which team will run out for the tournament and also I don’t want players getting injured before we begin our campaign. We need a complete turnaround from the last six matches we played where I was looking at players, now I have been able to spend some time with them and we are getting somewhere. I want to excite people with our play, and I want the players to play with flair, pace and passion and we can only do that when we have the crowd behind us,” added the coach.

Klerksdorp- North West police are investigating a case of Armed Robbery after a 58 year-old man robbed off his bicycle.

The incident took place at Jourberton, near Nkang Mahlale high school North West police said.

“A 58 year-old victim was allegedly riding his bike when he was approached by two suspects. They allegedly grab him and threw him on the ground and stabbed him several times before fleeing the scene with his bicycle” Captain Botma said.

“A case of armed robbery has been opened and police are looking for two suspects” she continues.

Hawks in Klerksdorp received information of illegal dealing in Dagga. Information was followed up and an entrapment was conducted in Adam View, Klerksdorp.  “A suspect aged 23 was arrested after dealing and found to be in possession of dagga. The suspect informed the police that he is working for a man who is a resident of Extension 6, Jouberton,near  Klerksdorp”brigadier ngubane said.

The police visited the address and conducted a search in the house.

A cooler-box containing dagga to the value of R5000-00 was discovered and the suspect aged 30 was arrested.

It is alleged that these suspects are responsible for selling dagga and other drugs to scholars at schools around Klerksdorp.

The schools in the area are Milner and Technical High School in Klerksdorp. “There has been an ongoing concern by the surrounding community in Adam View that people sell dagga to school kids” he said.

Mogwase-North West police are searching for four suspects after a 33 year-old man robbed while asleep in Mogwase.

“The 33 year-old man was allegedly asleep when suprisingly being woken up by four robbers” Captain Botma said.

“The suspects allegedly help themselves with DVD player,DSTV Decoder and other house belongings. They allegedly gain entry through a kitchen door” she said.

The suspects allegedly suffocated a 33 year-old victim before they fled the scene.

A case of house robbery was opened and investigations continue.

Ottosdal- A 36 year-old man died in an accident after his car overturned on Vermaas road in Ottosdal.

“A case of culpable homicide was opened after a 36 year-old man died. According to information at our disposal,the driver was alone in a car” Captain Botman said.
