Upington-The police are investigating a culpable homicide after a head on collision occurred between a Toyota Corolla and a VW Golf 7 approximately 73km outside Upington on the Gemsbok Park Road yesterday in the early hours. 

“Mr Raymond Jansen(38), his wife Amanda(40), their daughter Kaitlyn(10) and son Raymonde(1) were on their way home after visiting their elder child,Bradley(16) who resides in Byleveld hostels when the accident occurred” Lieutenant Sergio Kock said. 

The 28 year old driver of the VW Golf was travelling alone police said. “Although the exact cause of the accident is being investigated,it has been confirmed that both vehicles caught fire after the collision” Kock said. 

A motorist passing who was passingby and witnessed the gruesome accident managed to rescue all the occupants from both burning wrecks except for Mr Raymond Jansen who was trapped in the vehicle and ultimately died as a result of the fire.

Kaitlyn Jansen later died as a result of the injuries sustained during the accident. 

All the other persons were hospitalised for medical treatment.
