FET Colleges optional,says MEC

Mahikeng- South African universities are experiencing a backlog on late registrations and most courses are full already and this leave most students with no option,but to search for another option.

This vulnerable students mostly left with no option,but to take a gap year as other end up being a prey for uregistered colleges.

North West MEC of Education,Louisa Mabe adviced students to go and study at FET colleges as they also offer relevant skills.

“To those students who could not be admitted in various universities around the country can explore their chances by studying at various registered FET Colleges across the country” Mabe said.

“Most colleges offer most needed skills while universities mostly based on theory. So go and study there and make sure you choose the relevant course as in North West we short of Travel & Tourism,Engineers and Artisians” she said.

South African universities were swamped up yesterday by potential students who want to further their studies,but most of them were left demoralised as most of their ideal courses were full.

Minister of Higher Education,Blade Nzimande also shared the same sentiment that students must go through FET colleges to further their studies.

However most students are reluctant as they believe standard of education at FET colleges leave more questions than answers.
