South African-born midfielder Dean Furman has signed a one-year contract extension at English League One side Oldham Athletic.
The 23-year-old, who was called up by former Bafana Bafana coach Carlos Alberto Parreira for an international against Australia in 2008, joined Oldham a year later and was appointed captain at the start of this season.
“When I signed a three-year contract in 2009, there was an option to extend for another year,” he tells the club’s official website. “I am delighted to have accepted. I have enjoyed my football here and the last three years have flown by.”
Furman, who was born in Cape Town, came through the youth systems of Chelsea and Glasgow Rangers.
