The CAF A Diploma (License) candidates began the new year with a 7-day programme, as they came back for the second phase of learning from 6–13 January 2023 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The candidates used the second phase to present their assignments from phase one, which was held last November 2023. Phase 2 included topics as stipulated by the CAF Coaching Convention from a tactical understanding, organisation, preparation, and building of teams.
Drafting a periodization plan from general to specific, preparation periods and the first competition period, transition periods, and second competition periods.

They also analysed the South African Senior National Team (Bafana Bafana), ahead of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations. Speaking to http://www.safa.net, CAF Instructor, Steve Coetsee said that the course has been going well with the top level of coaches and those with high performance analysis experience.
This has led to tremendous discussions and interaction throughout the week.
The Orbit College Head Coach, Pogiso Makhoye said: “The second phase of the CAF A Diploma has been a very great week of collaboration and sharing ideas with the coaches in attendance.
“There are many ideas and philosophies that we are learning through this course that will go a long way with our clubs’ goals. Playing in the Motsepe Championship is not easy and topics such as organisation, player management, and periodization, will really assist us for the remainder of this season.”
Phase three of the CAF A License Coaching course will be held in March 2024.
