26 November 2025- The SAPS management in the ZF Mgcawu District welcomed the sentence handed to a man (48) for murder by the Keimoes Regional Court. The incident occurred on 10 August 2024, when the deceased, Cedric Pretoors (25) had a braai with his family at home, and the accused Denzil Bosman arrived and entered the yard.

The ZF Mgcawu District police spokesperson, Sergeant Omphile Masegela said the deceased reprimanded the accused as there was a protection order, restricting him to enter the premises. Masegela said an argument ensued between the deceased and the accused.

“The accused took out a knife and stabbed the deceased on his head, and the blade of the knife broke and remained lodged on the head of the deceased. The deceased was hospitalised and ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The case was assigned to Warrant Officer Abraham Johnson for further investigation. He reconstructed the scene and retraced the steps as the incident was not reported prior to death.

“The suspect was traced and arrested by Warrant Officer Schalk Oberholster and Sergeant Victor Katz. His bail was successfully opposed and later granted after an appeal. The trial was heard in the Keimoes Regional Court and the accused was found guilty of murder and was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment,” she said.

Masegela further said the commendable work by the members was acknowledged by the District Commissioner of ZF Mgcawu, Major General Monica Sebili, recognising the investigating officer who continuously produces excellent convictions.
