Three suspects aged between 24 and 36, were arrested for possession of drugs, while the fourth suspect (40), was arrested for being in possession of stolen property and drugs. They were arrested during a disruptive operation in the early hours of Saturday.
The Northern Cape police spokesperson, Sergeant Molefi Shemane said the police from Operation Vala Umgodi unit, conducted an operation in Boitshoko, Postdene, Maranteng, Newtown, Greenfield and Carnation in Postmasburg following a tip-off regarding suspected illicit drug dealing in the area.
“Drugs with an estimated street value of R 1 560 700 and money believed to be the proceeds of crime were seized.
Uniforms believed to be that of law enforcement were also recovered and confiscated.
“The suspects will appear in court soon. Operation Vala Umgodi disruptive actions will continue to address illicit mining and related crimes throughout the province,” he said.
