Pudimoe police registered a case of attempted murder and malicious damage to property against a 29 year- old suspect, Petrus Viljoen.

Pudimoe Police Station spokesperson Tebogo Thebe said on Saturday, the suspect attempted to rape a 21 year-old female who is a student at Vuselela College which is situated in Pudimoe at around 21:35.

“The suspect damaged the college’s property by kicking the door of the hall way which leads to the exit of male’s dormitory resulting the case of malicious damage to property,” Thebe said.

Three witnesses allege that they heard the victim screaming from her locked room when they arrived to check what was happening, they found the suspect and the victim inside the room.

The caretaker was called to unlock the room.

“The victim emerged from the room visibly traumatised and they immediately came to the Police Station to open a case of attempted rape and malicious damage to property, the suspect is in custody and is expected to appear at Taung magistrate court today,” he said.
