Two undocumented men nabbed

3 August 2025- Two undocumented men aged 29 and 41 were arrested. The suspects were arrested by the SAPS members from Kimberley, Kagisho, Public Order Police, Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit, Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit, Municipal Traffic, Provincial Traffic, and the Department of Home Affairs successfully conducted Operation Basadi duties in and around Kimberley on 1 August 2025.

The Northern Cape police spokesperson, Sergeant Dikeledi Gopane said two roadblocks were simultaneously held along the N8 and N12 national routes. Gopane said during these operations, 150 vehicles were stopped and checked, while 347 individuals were searched.

“Two firearms were inspected, three J534 admissions of guilt fines were issued to the value of R1800. Fourteen traffic fines were issued to the value of R11 700. Two undocumented men aged 29 and 41, were arrested and detained.

“In addition, high-visibility patrols and stop-and-search operations were carried out in identified hotspot areas as part of ongoing crime prevention efforts. Operation Basadi will continue throughout the month of August, reinforcing the SAPS’s commitment to community safety and gender-focused policing initiatives,” she said.
