A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Pampierstad on Friday at around 03:00 pm. Northern Cape police said the pupil was walking alone in the veld from school to Itireleng village, Pampierstad where she resides. Warrant Officer Thuso Setumiso, who is a spokesperson for Pampierstad police station, said an unknown man pounced on the girl and dragged her to the abandoned houses nearby. “The police haven’t arrested anyone regarding the case and police investigations continue. Police request anyone who might have any information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrator to come forward,” he said.
In another matter, a 18 year-old girl was walking in the street with her friends on Saturday at around 01:15am from a local tavern when an unknown man pointed her with a knife and raped her. Setumiso said the suspect is also still at large, and investigations continue.
In another incident, a 41 year-old woman was sitting with her male relative in Pampierstad on Saturday. Pampierstad police spokesperson, warrant officer Thuso Setumiso said: “The two were allegedly drinking beer and the suspect requested the victim to go with him to this house. She said when they arrived at the house, the suspect forced himself on her and a rape case was opened. The suspect has not been arrested as he allegedly fled the scene, but police expect to make arrest soon,” he said.
