North West Premier Mme Thandi Modise is confident that urgent intervention by the Speaker of the Provincial Legislature, Supra Mahumapelo will assist get to the bottom of the underlying causes of the tension between the Portfolio Committee on Public Works, Roads and Transport and the MEC for the Portfolio Raymond Elisha.

Premier had in a letter addressed to the Speaker submitted before the committee’s sitting yesterday assured him of her full respect for all the Provincial Legislature Committees and structures and hopes that the matter be resolved as speedily as possible an adversarial relationship between the Executive and the legislature will not benefit the public.“Personalities, personal interests and playing to the gallery should make way for constructive engagements that will assist us deal with the challenges facing the department,” said Premier Modise.
