The swimmer who was arrested for speeding on the N1 to Pretoria on Sunday is not an Olympic athlete.

Beeld newspaper on Monday reported that Swimming SA spokesman Godfrey Monei confirmed he was not an Olympic swimmer.

The man would appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court with his father on Monday, Gauteng traffic police said.

The pair were arrested for speeding on the N1 to Pretoria on Sunday and released on bail. Spokeswoman Busaphi Nxumalo said the 55-year-old father was caught shortly before 7am driving at 234km/h in a Porsche GT3.
