A TEEN Grade 11 pupil died while another one was hospitalised after a knife attack at Rethusegile Seconday School in Lethabong near Rustenburg on Tuesday afternoon.

The two were allegedly stabbed by a fellow pupil during a fight outside the school premises. The cause of fight was not immediately clear but the incident has brought to the fore the problem of nyaope, drugs and alcohol abuse that is said to be rife in the area.

North West police spokesperson Sgt Kelebogile Moleko said an 18-year-old suspect had been arrested and will appear in the Tlhabane Magistrate’s Court today on a murder charge.

“Police in Lethabong received a call about a group of people who were disturbing the peace in Lethabong. Among the group was a person holding a knife and it is alleged that he used it to stab the victims,” Moleko said.
