Five nabbed for looting and setting truck alight

Zeerust- North West police arrested five people after they set a truck alight and theft. The five suspects were arrested after they allegedly stole set of sofas,11 matress and 9 basebeds.

This event unfolded at Dinokana village in Zeerust after three trucks were delivering some goods to various destinations.

“Police were called after truck drivers were allegedly escaped the attack between Dinokana  and Gaborone road. The three trucks saw group of people heading to their direction and they made a U-turn,unfortunately the third driver could not make it, as his truck jammed” Sergeant Nkwalase said.

“After realising that his life could be in danger, the driver ran for cover. The perpetrators helped themselves with furniture materials loaded in a truck and burnt the front view of it” he said.

Police reacted swiftly and arrested five suspects at Ikageleng village near Dinokana.

Police urges the public to report any suspicious deeds to Warrant Officer Rabe on 0728066601 or alternatively call 08610111.

The road freight srike ended today as the agreement was reached between unions and employers.

Five supects will appear before court on Monday at Lehurutshe Magistrate Court on charges of Theft,Found in possession of stolen goods and Malicious damage to property.
