Three nabbed for public violence in North West

THREE employees from Bidvest Prestige appeared before Bafokeng Magistrates’ Court in Tlhabane yesterday for public violence.

The trio in their twenties was allegedly part of a group which illegally gathered at Impala Simunye number 8 hostels.

North West police spokesperson, Captain Paul Ramaloko said that the group allegedly vandalised the company’s machines during their illegal protest.

“The group was part of the employees of Bidvest Prestage, which was a cleaning company subcontracted to Impala mine. They apparently picketing after they demanded salary increase,” Ramaloko said.

He said that more arrests were on the card as Phokeng detectives were tracing more suspects in connection with public violence, intimidation and malicious damaged to property related to this incident.

Ramaloko said that they urge community to stop damaging property when groups picketing.
