Two suspects arrested for house robbery in Lehurutshe

Lehurutshe-Swift reaction by police led to arrest of two suspects for alleged house robbery and possession of suspected stolen goods at Lehurutshe in the early hours of Monday. 

“It is alleged that suspects broke into a house and forced entry through the back door where they found 52 year old victim asleep. They allegedly pointed her with a firearm, tighten her hands and ransacked the house” colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said.

 Police said the suspects also demanded key for the safe.  “According to the information we received, they took R5000-00 cash from the safe before fleeing the scene with properties including Nissan 1400 bakkie, Toyota Hilux, mink blankets, Plasma Screen, portable tv, micro oven, bottles of alcohol, AMC pots and men’s clothes” Mokgwabone said. 

Police in the neighbouring stations were alerted and they immediately launched a manhunt.  Zeerust police spotted a white Nissan 1400 bakkie that was heading towards Mahikeng. 

“They chase began it and a 40 year old man was arrested at Ottoshoop where some stolen properties were also found in the car” he said.  

He led the police to the house owned by a 36 year old traditional healer where some of the stolen goods were recovered at Matlapana Section,near Dinokana village.   

“The Toyota Hilux was found abandoned in the bushes near Lehurutshe cemetery” police said.  

The 36 year old suspect is expected to appear before Lehurutshe Magistrate’s Court today for possession of suspected stolen goods while the 40 year old suspect will appear before the court tomorrow for possession of suspected stolen goods and house robbery.
